8. They went down in a blaze of glory.
Well, all the glory went to the Eagles, but it was certainly a blaze.

11. There was no glory in that blaze yesterday
I mean this was the team PICKED in the pre-season to go to the Super Bowl

I hope they got their tickets because that's the only way they'll be going!

14. The team COULD go to the Super Bowl one year...
The current coaching staff won't be with them, if it happens, I suspect.

I mean, what the HELL was Philips doing when he... Oh, never mind. I gave up them after Pittsburgh, when they decided to run out the clock with a ten point lead and ten minutes to go by running their third string rookie running back straight into the toughest run defense in the NFL rather than, oh, I don't know, passing the ball to one of the five superstar receivers on their roster?

I mean, name a team with more receiving talent than the Cowboys. So what do Philips and Garret do? They try to establish the run, because you know, there's something spiritual about establishing the run and all coaches are supposed to do it, for some reason. Then when their bored receivers miss one of the three passes thrown their way during the game because they were so surprised to see a ball in their direction, they get blamed for the loss, rather than the play-calling that charged one of their running backs into the line 35 times for a net gain of 18. Or whatever it turns out to be. Especially when their main two running backs are injured.

The Dallas coaches remind me General McClellan in the Civil War, and Abraham Lincoln's comments about him. "If Wade Philips doesn't want to use the offense, maybe someone else could try it for awhile."

Alright, I feel better. Glad I'm a Saints fan, too--not that they are better to cheer for, but they've accustomed me to losing.

18. Yeah, well, you have Westbrook. It's funny, isn't it?
The Cowboys have the best receiving corp they've ever had, and they keep trying to run, and the Eagles have average receivers (excepting Jackson), and all they do is pass. Any way you slice it, though, Reid was half a game better than Philips.

It's not the individual plays, though, it's the scheme. Dallas builds their team around star receivers and a QB, then tries to let their running backs carry the load. When the team rebels, the coaches try to pass more, and it's too obvious, since the new plays look like skin grafts on a run offense. So the passes don't work, and the coaches go back to the run the next game.

Reid is more consistent, but his team isn't always there. Some years McNabb is hurt, other years Westbrook is hurt. They never have given him any star receivers for McNabb to throw to, except TO, whom they ran off the year after he got them to the Super Bowl.

If we could merge the two teams, we'd have something. Give McNabb the Cowboys receivers (plus Jackson), and put Barber and Westbrook in the same backfield. Reid could be head coach, Philips Defensive Coordinator. Use Jerry Jone's pocketbook, because the Eagles' cheapskate owners wouldn't spend the money. I'd love to see what McNabb could do with a serious receiving corp. Well, I wouldn't love it for two games of the year...

Seriously, I've recently "discovered" the Health Forum, and those discussions sure do get a little heated.

9. Oh, come on. Tease.
You can't post something like that and then not tell us where it was. You're just a tease, aren't you?

I like that in a man, actually. But I digress. And transgress, oftentimes. Not to mention regress.

15. ,
Is it the Guns forum you're talking about? I just peeked in there, and hightailed it right back out. However, I did stay long enough to be amused at the shorthand language. That always fascinates me -- how subgroups always create their own insider shorthand language. As in, they don't say "the 2nd Amendment" -- they just shorten it to "the 2nd." And they love the "RKBA" acronym. Took me a while to realize that it means "right to keep and bear arms" and not "really kooky ballistics afficionado."
