Are we talking something cheap like a $15 California sparking or Moet or something that is going to make me cry like Dom Perignon?

48 bottles could be a huge material loss...$100's of dollars.

Edit: Look at the bright side, it's not your money. The first time I was happy I didn't own the coffeehouse I worked in was the day the espresso machine blew up and did $15,000 in damage.

4. I only lost 7 bottles
Champagne bottles are tough, luckily. And it was the Gloria Ferrer on sale at $13.99. I was thankful I hadn't yet loaded up the Veuve Clicquot though I would have preferred to lose the Korbel. Still, it definitely could have been worse.

It sounded like what I imagine an avalanche would sound like. Quite spectacular way to start the day. :P

10. My job often feels like a Three Stooges episode

But no one was injured in this mishap except the aforesaid 7 bottles of champagne. :(

12. Earthquake, or bad shelving?
Regrettable, either way.

I have three bottles of Corbel Brut, and that's my entire supply for New Year's.

:hi:

14. Bad shelving
My store is old and decrepit but it's in a very rich town that won't allow us to remodel. So it's small and cramped with old, crappy shelves. I have the smallest wine set in the district and the second highest sales - I outsell million dollar stores. Cracks me up.

We had some open shelves in a cold case that had been stocked with eggnog. The eggnog was all gone so the receiver suggested I put champagne there.

Champagne evidently weighs more than eggnog.

I had just finished loading the shelf when it collapsed. I'm sure it was comical to watch me with a stunned expression on my face desperately trying to catch roughly 48 bottles of champagne as they slid merrily down onto the floor (where they exploded like bombs).

It was quite memorable but not the first time it's happened. ~sigh~

13. I'd be picking glass shards out of my tongue right about now.
Jst kdn....sorry to hear about your rough patch. Though, in some randomly indirect sort of way, it might've saved a life or a dui because you'll run out sooner. Maybe, maybe not.

I'm an enabler by trade (hangs head in shame).

And yes, I was licking my fingers as I picked up the survivors. :P
