I can't make up my mind, stay home or go to a party.

7. The big day is almost here.
I will be glad to see 2008 go away.

Of course 2009 might not be better, at least we have a new President.

2. We'll be home, Hubby and Sarahbellum and one of her friends
Food, wine, movies, hats, streamers, confetti, games, and those little thingies like champagne bottles that pop out little streamers and stuff when you pull the string. :-)
Perhaps we'll go sliding too, if there's still snow and it's not too cold.

3. Amateur night
I stay home and have for many, many years. Too many people who don't know how to drink like adults are on the loose, whereas I and a few friends have a civilized sleepover with dinner and rum-soaked desserts.

52. I doubt it is just the "rednecks" that are shooting in the air.
You probably would like to assign blame to one group that you find distasteful however I suspect there are others that also commit that offense. For instance, did President elect Obama win the "redneck" vote in Flint?

My neighborhood used to be really loud at midnight but not so much now.

24. I haven't found any consistency in Houston.
Some neighborhoods you kind of expect it and it happens, but even in places you would think they'd know better, you still hear the guns going off. It's good you live in a better neighborhood now :)

I have watched people "responsibly" fire into the ground, but why not just get some fireworks and risk less penalty when you're caught? ;)

I've heard some "weapons" go off that sounded a lot bigger than a shotgun, too. That kind of scared me even if it was way off in the distance...

28. The townhouses have helped in this department.
We used to play with fireworks as kids, blackcats.

We would tie them together and throw them.

It is a wonder I have any fingers now.

I liked the bottle rockets.

Then, when the 2 year old is ready for bed, I'm taking her home and the Wife and two older kids will stay at the party and I will remember the friends I lost to a car crash (no drunks, at about 8 pm) on December 31, 1989.......Haven't been a big New Year's reveler since then.

48. Staying at my compound, no worries at all about falling lead.
Shooting into the air must be a city thing. While I am confident ALL my neighbors own guns I have never heard any being fired on New years eve. Either they are responsible gun owners or they don't want to waste ammo & have to clean them afterwords. As a matter of fact they don't shoot off fireworks either.

I really don't like the thought of driving on a night when there are so many drunks on the road. To be honest with you I will probably be in bed by ten o'clock.

49. 5 YO = staying home
But we stayed home before the little one was born anyway. I have to admit, in my single days, I never found myself at one of those rollicking and/or dress-up New Year's parties you see in the movies. Maybe I don't know the right people :P but I always ended up at a lame house party IF there was a party going on at all. I did go to one formal party at a local museum before I met Mr. MG, but without a date it was a complete waste of time. So I know I'm not missing much.

But now I drink even less. And I really don't care for drunk women hanging all over me, which always happens. Especially those, whose partners are comatose across the room.

I'll stay home and have an extra movie night this week.
