Halllp! Please, I need some info regarding phones!
I have a landline and no cell phone. I am so not happy with my phone company and have heard that those pay-as-you-go cells can be very economical for those of us who don't yak 24/7.

Question: any particular brands to recommend? I have been researching on Amazon (w/people's comments) but it's so overwhelming and I haven't ever heard if we have to pay for incoming calls. If so, how much is it? What about those bee ess charges that are meaningless taxes and stuff?

Thanks in advance!

2. don't go with verizon.
they charge you a daily charge for pay as you go phones- whether you use it or not. which kinda defeats the purpose of having it.
we've got cingular for ours- i put $100 on it last march, and i still have over $60 left on it.

3. Trakfone has a 1 year deal for $99.
You get a year and 400 minutes. When I activated, they doubled the minutes for some reason I don't understand. It must have been some promotion I didn't know about.

Their cheapest, simplest phone costs under $10.

So, for just over $100, you get a year's phone service. Since I make about two calls a year on that phone and only carry it for emergencies, it sounds like a lot, but it's way cheaper than a regular cell phone contract.

That said...keep a land line phone, using the phone company's lifeline rate, just for receiving calls and for 911 calls. Pretty cheap.

Make outgoing calls on the prepaid.
