Hey, DU green tea fans, a question
I is supposed to taste like hot water dripping from a haystack?

It's a complementary tea bag in my motel room. Bigelow Green Tea.

Steeped it in hot water the obligatory 10 minutes. What I got was
cup of liquid that looked like dog piss and tasted like, well, hay.

Did I do it wrong? Just askin'

:)

1. A single bag, steep for 2 or 3 minutes tops
Especially for Bigelow and other big name teas. 10 minutes is much too long - hence your description sounds accurate.

A good green tea will not taste like you described, I swear. :-)

3. Suggestion taken for future reference
For tonight, though, my only option is Chamomile.

:scared:

Guess I'll stick to

:)

4. To take the water off BEFORE it boils and then steep it for 2 minutes tops.
Otherwise it will taste bad.

6. You had the tea bag in WAY too long; and, green tea is tea bag is ALWAYS shitty
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 11:43 PM by Rabrrrrrr
unless you buy actual Japanese green tea from a Japanese store that puts actual good green tea in their tea bags instead of the dregs, the broken leaves, and the dust, which is what goes into every other tea bag.

Steep the tea bag for a minute, maybe 2 if you have to, but no more or it will get really bitter and nasty.

And then throw it out the window, and just have water, because, as I said, green tea from a tea bag is SHIT, even when you make it properly.
