6. Ever since I read that fish experience pain...
I don't fish anymore. I know that's not very manly, but that's how it is. I used to fish all the time...

7. My husband fishes. I used to attempt to fish and throw back what I caught.
At least until I caught one in the eye with my hook. The thought of hooking in the eye in the first place, then removing the hook only to let it swim off with that kind of wound. Never fished again. I used to enjoy the "thrill" of catching a fish. Now I get sad for a fish when it is caught. Shit I feel bad for the worm or cricket used. I make sure we have to free the unused crickets.

9. As we are talking about it...
I feel kind of strange...I mean...I will eat meat and fish, but I cannot let my hand inflict the suffering or death. I can't hunt, and I can no longer fish. Even when I did fish, I would attempt to resuscitate them by stroking them in the water, and then releasing them.

11. Yeah, I feel guilty sometimes because I am such an animal person,
yet I eat meat. I could never ever pull the trigger on an animal. Hunting baffles me even though I grew up around it. Now fishing is hard to be around for me (and my husband loves to fish, even though I think he second guesses it now after hearing me talk about it).

12. We have a cabin with a stream full of brookie trout
When the kids would catch a fish I always made a big deal out of cleaning them and cooking them up at the campfire. The hooks we always used would mutilate the fish and I didn't want the kids to feel bad because the fish always died. So we ate them! :)

13. My husband eats what he catches and keeps.
But I don't like fish, so that gives me no reason to fish. I only like shell fish for some reason.
