Have you actually ever known a dog named "Fido"?
It was the name of Lincoln's beloved yellow mutt. I've kind of thought I'd name a dog this, if I were to adopt a male dog. The funny thing is that it's tossed about like the quintessential dog's name, but I've never known of anyone--besides Lincoln--who named their dog "Fido".

4. I had a dog named Spot as a kid
That was a great dog. A friend of my Grandfathers found him abandoned out in the country. Don't know how old she was when we got her but she was with us and my grandfather for 14 years.

5. I knew of one named Phydeaux
A man I used to work with got a dog and spelled it that way. Kind of clever, I suppose.
