2. Let's see...
"Billy mack is a detective down in texas
You know he knows just exactly where the eggs is"

A bit surreal, but it works.

That creates problems in the next couplet though:

"He aint gonna let those two escape justice
He makes his livin off of the peoples taxes"

14. that he did (not that I'm defending Miller)
Billy Mack is a detective down in Texas
You know he knows just exactly what the facts is
He aint gonna let those two escape justice
He makes his livin off of the peoples taxes

One of my favorite bizarro rhymes is Pete Seeger's Old Time Religion:

We will pray with those old Druids
They drink fermented fluids
Waltzing naked thru the woo-ids
And that’s good enough for me

16. Yet, in every other verse the rhyme scheme is:
A
A
A
B

This heres a story about billy joe and bobbie sue
Two young lovers with nothin better to do
Than sit around the house, get high, and watch the tube
And here is what happened when they decided to cut loose

They headed down to, ooh, old el paso
Thats where they ran into a great big hassle
Billy joe shot a man while robbing his castle
Bobbie sue took the money and run

Billy mack is a detective down in texas
You know he knows just exactly what the facts is
He aint gonna let those two escape justice
He makes his livin off of the peoples taxes

Bobbie sue, whoa, whoa, she slipped away
Billy joe caught up to her the very next day
They got the money, hey you know they got away
They headed down south and theyre still running today

17. then he broke the pattern with 'taxes'
unless that verse is supposed to be A-A-A-A.

Can't say I've ever been much of a fan.

5. Nor does "Abra, abra cadabra" with "I wanna reach out and grab ya"
I never "got" Steve Miller. Yeah, I know that he started out as hot stuff (especially when he had Boz Scaggs in his band), but he ripped off Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way" in his song "The Stake"...and for that, he sucks mightily. He's the worst, a bottom feeder.

9. I like a couple of his tunes...
But, he was always waaay to ready to reach for the cheese switch.

"Abracadabra" is just horrid. ...a real putrid offering.

10. And you know what? I don't even care. I have a much bigger problem with "for to give you no pain."
Yeah, not Steve Miller, but it's annoying.

12. When my wife and I first looked at this house in 2002
before we even got out of the car, I told her that we "were home". She asked me how I knew, and I said " 'Cause I speak of the pompatus of love". The address? 828 south MAURICE.

ps-it is in Texas, and I pay taxes.

13. Steve Miller himself is a moron.
I saw an interview with him on "Night Flight," and while I wasn't expecting a Mensa candidate, he went out of his way to show how stupid he is.

I mean, their biggest hit (AFAIK,) was "Rockin' Me Baby."

15. All My Ex's Live In Texas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN3pjUEcd4M

All my ex's live in Texas,
And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

Rosanna's down in Texarkana; wanted me to push her broom,
And sweet Ilene's in Abilene; she forgot I hung the moon,
And Allison in Galveston somehow lost her sanity,
And Dimples who now lives in Temple's
Got the law lookin’ for me.

All my ex's live in Texas,
And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

I remember that old Frio river where I learned to swim.
And it brings to mind another time where I wore my welcome thin.
My transcendental meditation, I go there each night,
But I always come back to myself
Long before daylight.

All my ex's live in Texas,
And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

Some folks think I'm hidin',
It's been rumored that I died,
But I'm alive and well in Tennessee
