Raoul Malo, not Sarah Palin!

I have enormous respect for Raul Malo. I had the privilege of interviewing him before a show in 1994, and he's a really genuine kind of guy.

He played an outdoor show a couple of summers ago in Newburyport, Mass, and I didn't find out about it until the last minute. It was part of some dort of harbor front festival, and they really didn't promote his appearance.

when the band was Raul, Robert Reynolds, Nick Kane and Paul Deakin. I take full credit for their having been hired to perform that particular show; our radio station sponsored it, and I persuaded our promotions director to hire The Mavericks over the few other acts he had on his short list.
