Anybody still awake?
Just got back from a long dinner with my brother and his girlfriend. I asked them out 'cause I couldn't stand this damned empty house anymore.

Anyway...anybody still in a sociable mood?

Ask me anything... B-)

1. Plenty are still awake, come join the party
And if anybody says "You're not my type" just scroll through the past few threads and you'll see what's going on pretty quickly.

2. Got fog?
It's rolled in, thick and not at all on little cats' feet here.

Where'd you go for dinner?

5. The Ram on the Ruston Way waterfront.
I had the Total Disorder Porter Burger. I'll never have that again. It was delicious, but messy! It was like my burger pooped on my hands...

Yeah, it was foggy out there.

I love visting my brother. He's even further to the left than I am, if that were possible. We watched a repeat of the inauguration celebrations. We're ecstatic. B-)

10. Sounds good.
It's nice that you get to visit family--I miss seeing my brothers.

(And the "burger pooped in my hands" image...)

11. As we say back home, "there goes the neighborhood"
But although the house is still there (not too far away, either),
and we share it with friends who live there full time, I have been
stationed overseas for decades now, and don't get back to TX except
for very short stretches. Bush Lite's stench will not extend to
the Rheinland except on days when the Gulf Stream is feeling
particularly ornery.

Where are you stationed? I did a hitch in Kitzingen, a long time ago...

23. I am indeed in Germany
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 05:10 AM by DFW
Kitzingen is down south. I'm in the Rheinland, near Düsseldorf,
which used to be BAOR territory. We don't wear uniforms in my line
of work--there's nothing like having a target painted on your back.
I am often over in Brussels, and in a lot of the neighboring
countries of NATO-land as well as Switzerland. It's tiring, but
the scenery and food are good, and I'll die (or retire) before I
get tied back down to a desk job Stateside.

14. Nobody knows. He and the Anglin Brothers were never seen again.
A few years ago, Discovery, or one of those channels, hired a professional long-distance swimmer to make the swim from Alcatraz to the mainland under the same conditions: night, tide and temperature. She struggled and suffered terribly, and was eventually plucked from the waters by her safety crew.

Alcatraz historians say Morris and the Anglins drowned, and their bodies were carried out to sea.

20. I never heard about a swimmer attempting it
but it makes sense that they likely didn't make it.

Patrick McGoohan was quite the bastard in the movie, too

21. Yeah. I hated seeing him in that role. I had only ever seen him as a good guy
at that point: The Prisoner, Dr. Syn, alias The Scarecrow. I didn't see his 'Columbo' murders until many years later.

I also remember thinking how very handsome he was, which is a weird thing for a straight pre-teen boy to think...
