If I wanted to start a website with a layout similar to DU

how would I go about doing so?

(NOTE: This would NOT be a political website, so there would be NO competition with DU.)

1. There are lots of places you can sign up to create a free discussion board.

EZboards springs to mind -- although I haven't been there in awhile.

DU, however, does have the best, most user-friendly layout of all the boards I've seen. It's the tweaking, I think.
