I just finished my taxes. Boy, that was depressing.
I knew I was broke as hell last year (I got laid off in the spring and still haven't found work- NOBODY is hiring for anything I'm qualified to do) but seeing the actual total really brought that home.

And no, I do not want to pay $9.95 to efile for my $11 state return. :eyes: Especially since they'll just send me an IOU.

Would anybody like to buy a gently used kidney? I'm O+ and I almost never drink. Can't afford it lately. ;)

2. When I sign with the Bosox you're taken care of.
Yeah, that was equally depressing on both ends of that.

3. Right now my best shot at financial security is either a lotto win or your untimely demise.
I guess I'd better go buy a ticket. ;)

8. I need a new liver
but then.... :eyes:

I hear your pain. In December we paid out about $13,000 in property taxes. We have minus in the bank - how my husband pulled it off is anyones guess.

All I know is every day I wonder how we are going to get through another 24 hour period. If an emergency comes up we are fucked. And we are professionals (I however am a stay at home mom.) It sucks. I do not remember what a vacation feels or looks like and our 10 year old car better hold out so I can drive the kids to school and get my husband to and from the train station every day.

I am some rare blood type - can't remember what it is... a nurse exclaimed once "Oh, you could sell your blood for a fortune if you really wanted to." I ignored it since my love of needles is non existent. I would give my crappy blood away if someone needed it or wanted it though.

If you lived near me I would have you over for a drink, my treat. xoxo

9. Too right.
Right now, if someone bumped me off I'm worth about... $364,000. More if it was in an auto accident with me wearing my seatbelt.

Enough to buy my family a house, pay off all the debts and still have enough left over to put my son and future child through college. Though my wife would still have to go to work.

I'm waiting on some paperwork from an odd job my wife did last year, unsure if it'll be a 1099-something or an actual W2. So far we owe about $2k federal and $700 state. Between us we screwed up our withholdings so the chickens have come home to roost, as they say. We'll figure it out, it will work itself out. Probably end up paying the IRS in instalments. Might start paying now, so the penalties and interest are less.

Mark.

12. Doing my taxes is always depressing.
I have to pay federal taxes every year, so I wait until almost the deadline. But for some reason, I always receive about $300 back from the state, which is about what I have to pay in federal, so it evens out.

15. Ugh, that sucks. What sort of jobs are you trying to find?
(if you don't mind my asking)

Our taxes actually worked out pretty well this year for the first time ever. Not that we make any money whatsoever, but it was a nice change of pace. The whole refund is going to bills, but still, it beats the pants off the year that I owed a boatload of money and had to deal with the IRS for 2+ years thanks to my idiot former employer who didn't take taxes out of my paychecks and tried to claim I was a self-employed secretary, but I digress. Bitterly, bitterly digress. :)
