this was very smart, considering the Ice Follies going on on the freeways. I have been watching the TXDOT live cameras off and on and it is a zoo out there people. Another 2 hours will help a LOT>

and cheers to the folks who got there anyway before they found out the office was not opening until noon.

1. And most of us Texans don't know how to drive in icy conditions!!
We're just not used to it.

Glad your employer used some common sense. So many expect people to risk their lives to be on time.

Drive safe when you do head into work.

3. Thanks. And true, most don't. I lived in Tennessee and Indiana for a while so
have some experience in ice and snow driving. Our corporate is in Louisville which gets some good winter weather from time to time but is not as well equipped for it as cities like Chicago or even Indy. Too many years when there is little to no winter weather to justify it. Fortunately they let the local management decide based on local conditions.

Glad I am not in the medical professions. However, if I were say a nurse that worked nights in the hospital, I would have volunteered to just stay over and pick up a shift for someone who couldn't get in in the morning. Easier than fighting it twice.

Sun is shining brightly and things are melting down. I went out earlier and ran my car with the defroster on high and the hot wires on and it is nice and thawed now.

2. I think the main roads arent too bad here
not like what I am seeing on the news for Dallas and Ft Worth, but I will never make it down the 2 1/2 miles of dirt road I live on to get to the main roads.

I am hoping I will be able to give it a try around noon. My employer lets us make our own judgements on when to come in.
