Panic attack...lovely.
I felt fine, and then Sniffa went to class and I had a cup of coffee and all of a sudden, it began. I tried showering, that didn't help. I walked to the store, hoping the fresh air would help. Nope.

So I'm laying on the couch, hoping it passes soon. I feel like crap.

Sigh.

8. Oh yeah, measured breathing exercising works as well.
I will breath in slowly counting to ten. hold for ten, let it out slowly for a count of ten, then hold for ten. then repeat. works like a charm.

3. Laying on the couch and going to sleep may be the best idea.
I've been in bed all day because with all my luck i caught the flu, on my day off :(.

I worked lat last night (like always), and I felt fine when I was doing the heavy lifting and all the cleaning, but nooo the last hour when everyone else was gone from my department, my breathing started to feel funny. When I got home I got the worst case of chills ever, and felt like I was outside streaking in Minnesota :scared:.

5. Panic attacks suck.
Was the coffee de-caf? I couldn't drink coffee for awhile; it seemed to bring on the attacks.

Hope you feel better. I went through a long period of having panic attacks and they are AWFUL!

11. Now that I think of it, the last one came after coffee too
About 6 weeks ago. That one sucked so bad, I had to drive home in heavy traffic. I don't even remember the drive, just practically running to my bedroom and sleeping for several hours. Ugggggh.

6. I get the all the time. here is what I do.
Edited on Wed Jan-28-09 06:58 PM by Javaman
as we all know, most of the time they come out of no where, however, sometimes they (for me anyway) are brought on by a series of thoughts. I trace my thoughts back to before I had the attack. While I'm doing that, it distracts my mind and I calm down. also and if there was an actual reason, I find out what set it off and that helps too. :)

Also, affirming to yourself, that everything will be just find verbally, works as well. If your partner is aware that you are having one, them saying, everything will be okay, also works.

A study was done a couple of years ago about verbal affirmation. it actually works to a degree.

so with that said...

Everything will be okay. :)

12. Might the caffiene exacerbated it?
Too much of that stuff lets all my demons out too.

Just thinking out loud...

14. I think it triggered it...
My sensitivity to caffeine varies. Sometimes I can drink copious amounts and feel fine, other days one cup makes me feel like I drank 6 at once, in a bad way. It's weird.

Have you tried looking at the pics you took at the farm a weekend or so ago? I found those tremendously peaceful-looking photos.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that. :loveya:
