It's no wonder all these celebrity types are so thin. If they gain one pound, it makes the cover of all the tabloids. And they are all of a sudden "curvy". Which I love curvy, but in Hollywood terms that means fat.

best and worst bods in bathing suits and then highlight dimples and cellulite. How humiliating. I couldn't make my living being one of those photographers. I do read People, which will sometimes have some pics (not like those) that are questionable, but I feel like People is a reputable magazine that doesn't just focus on celebs. They usually have a lot of inspiring stories in the mag.

This is a tough subject for me right now - I wish I felt as good as she looks. For the first time in my life I've gained weight and I don't even recognize my body. It's really frustrating and I feel guilty that it matters so much to me. : (

Not literally, but it would be very difficult for her to maintain that look. At least that is what I gathered listening to her talk about prepping for Dukes.

I don't know anything about what she did to prep, but she seems to be naturally curvy - for me to look like that bikini shot i'd have to work out 10 hrs a day and live on celery! Instead i eat healthy and work out, and just accept the curves! ;)

What I neglected to say is I've been on record since long before DU as wanting to kick the duck shit out of Hollyweird, the fashion industry, etc. for the damage they do to women regarding body image.

Little girls look up to these people. Parents should obviously keep it in check as best they can, but this can't be good for young ones to hear that she is "fat" or heavy.

...but probably heavier than she wants to be. That was pretty much my shape in my early-to-mid teens, with big hips and big thighs, and yes, I felt fat at the time. In looking back, I wasn't. Just heavier than I considered ideal. It didn't help that I had my mother on my back about it with snarky comments - never mind that it's very normal for teenage girls to gain some weight due to hormonal fluctuations, but nobody bothered to tell me that. Usually you lose it again, and I did. Now I get bitched at for being too thin. Heh. I no longer care. :)

I hate clothes and even I know not to wear the waist of your jeans right under where your bra strap would be, assuming you had one. Also, she's much too ample on top to go without.

She has put on weight though, you can tell by her upper arms. Might be medication or just cyclical bloating, hard to say from one photo.

They're both worthless beyond their looks. If Jennifer Aniston gained a pound or twenty like ol' Jessica, they'd be all over her shit, too. To be frank I don't feel sorry for these Hollywood 'victims' one iota. Where was all the kicking and screaming about objectifying women before she lost her it power (whatever it may be)? Yet another reason to keep the television off.

And she capitalized on that like crazy.

If Jennifer Aniston gained weight, it would be even bigger Hollywood news. I don't really compare the two though. Jessica is famous for being a ditsy wife on Newlyweds. Which was a "reality" show. But, we know we don't agree on Aniston.

She said she worked her ass off majorly hard for that movie. And it was almost impossible to keep up that kind of rigorous exercise. It was also hard for her to maintain her diet.

There is no question that she has gained some weight. But to call her fat... Well, that is just ridiculous. Even plump. She is probably still tiny. It is hard to even tell from photographs. It sends a terrible message, IMO.

That is why she looks so toned. Plus she has an athletic build, whereas Kate Moss does not. Jessica Simpson said herself that it would be impossible for her to keep up that body. When I say rail thin, I mean for Jessica's specific body type. I don't necessarily mean bony.

I don't know that it would have been impossible for her to stay in shape like that, it would have just required a lot of work. Look at Britney, she went from smoking hot to a flabby mess and now looks damn good again because she worked at it. Once you get to where you want to be you just have to do maintenance.

I was 115-118. You could see my ribs and I wore size 1-2 pants. Now, I'm 135, and wear a size 6.

I'm curvier, and not all in places I'd like to be, but hey, I'm 32, it happens.

My husband glanced at the cover of People the other day which had a similar picture and a blurb about her "new body." He seemed confused until I explained that the media is once again trying to manufacture controversy.

I would never want to live in the spotlight having people analyze by looks 24/7. It's amazing more women don't diet themselves to death.

Do I think she's fat? Absolutely not. But I also think it's laughable that she's having her sister defend her by saying she's a size 2. :rolls: There's no way. And that's fine because I've seen her looking like Skeletor way too many times and she looks a lot better here. But don't lie and say you're a 2, like anything bigger than a 2 is fat. I have just as much scorn for her as I do for the way our society treats these young women.

I hate the objectification of women in Hollywood. When people like Liv Tyler and Kate Winslet are told they are fat - that's just messed up. Since she's playing chili cookoffs right now, I think this is just a ploy for attention. Stuff her full of doughnut for a couple of weeks and put her in an unflattering outfit. Then wait for the "fat" pictures to create a storm. Have other C-list celebrities defend her and milk the attention for everything that it's worth. Then when that dies down, Jessica can get back in the limelight by detailing her regimen for taking all the weight off a la Jennifer Love Hewitt. More press coverage.

Most people look fine, but we're all bombarded with unreal expectations of perfection that if we don't look or dress a certain way, or even have a certain amount of money or status we feel inferior. The physical stuff, like weight, is usually harder on women, but us guys even feel that pressure nowadays too. It's just sad to see a perfectly attractive person get ripped up over something like this, it bothers me.
