7. Behold the power of the man thumb
If you look at the original pic, you can tell it's just a college-age guy who is holding a camera, and leaning back to get into the picture with his pals. Unfortunately for him, he has a very big neck, like that of a defensive lineman in football. That (and the absense of ears) is the reason why he looks like a thumb.

Much ado about nothing really-- other than the fact that it makes a weird/interesting photo.
