12. No problem.
I was probably going to go to a party. But then none of my rooting interests were nominated.

8. Ugh...the Oscars
The Best Picture category should be renamed to "Most Artsy and Overambitious Picture". No "The Dark Knight". No "Wall-E". No "The Wrestler". Instead we get "The Reader" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". :puke:

I'll take my football.

14. I just think the most deserving should be rewarded
if at the expense of the glamor.

I gotta say though, I don't know what would be more glamorous than a Dark Knight or Wall-E best pic nomination.

But "The Reader"?!?!?!? ARGH!!!

20. It's the kind of movie that made me think
"It is so obviously and shamelessly trying to get a Best Picture nod." Sadly, the Academy took the bait. Winslet elevated it as much as she could, but I personally hated it.

22. (Panics) No no no no no no
Not all of them. I loved Milk and Frost/Nixon, and I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire, but I hear it's great. I actually agreed with last year's Best Picture. I just think they sacrificed two slots for films that fit the mold I described.

24. Ronny, tell me your picks.
This is the first year we haven't seen most, if not all, of the nominees for the big awards. So I'd like to hear your opinions. Thanks. :)

25. I know. A film made by the production company I work for is nominated for 2 Oscars.
The economy for film work is shot (there is no money...especially for indie films), but we've got calls coming in left-and-right (and still no money) with great offers based on the nominations. I hope it wins, maybe then we can get some $$$ to start shooting again.

I didn't work on the project and have been asked to not ID it. It's a good liberal movie though. If we win, I'll be over the moon and gloating then everybody will know what film it was. They're big nominations though, not small piddling categories. :woohoo:

Seriously, the Oscars can't come fast enough for me...I may have no fingernails left by then.

but the Oscars has nicely-dressed men, and women in cool dresses.
It's a toss-up.
