Morrissey
Ok, so I used to hate Morrissey. As Robert Smith said, "If more says 'don't eat meat', then I'm going to eat meat, because I hate Morrissey." However, I've recently discovered that I in fact sort of love the Smiths and Morrissey.

Now, a certain woman who I tend to post a lot about in here (possibly my most popular topic with 60 - 70 responses in the last few days, along with being my most asinine post ever), invited me to go see Morrissey in May with her family. There is nothing in the world that I would like more than doing that, but it is many months away during which a lot of time could happen, and the now sold-out tickets cost 100 pounds.

So, what do you think? Try to go see Morrissey with this lady, or pass? Either way it may be a pass, because I could be un-invited if I were to get a ticket. However, it may be just the thing to help us be closer, and now I know that I would really enjoy it.

It's a lot of money, but it's not as much as I considered spending on a guitar or something. Alternately, if things go insanely well with this lady, I could use the same money to help us go to Berlin, Paris, or Prague this summer, which would be lovely, but is also about 8 steps removed, and doesn't involve me getting to enjoy a Morrissey concert.

1. saw him last may and he will be in town again this april
was thinking about going again.

while i can appreciate his talent--that is a lot of cash for a concert ticket.
in dolllars that is like 2-300 hundred bucks?

He obviously is bigger there than here.

If you were to do this to get in better graces with a woman--ahh that is a different matter
entirely.
I have not read you recent posts so i am unaware of your situation
but to me this smells of you wanting her more than she you????
been there done that (in fact currenly i---well lets not go there)

What is your worst case senario?
buy a ticket, things fall apart between now and then......
You could sell the ticket to someone else? The show would still be sold out.

maybe it is too close to valentines day and my brain has turned to romantic mush.
all i can do is wish you luck.

and enjoy the concert cause i suspect you are going to pop for the ticket........

3. I love the Smiths.
I think you should do it. Sometimes in life you have to be a little impractical and take a chance. :hi:

5. My personal vow is to never, ever, buy tickets from a scalper.
Scalpers are the scum of the earth.

*insert very long, profanity-laden rant here*

Aside from that, I encourage the seeing of Morrisey in concert. He puts on a good show.

6. I'm doing an event in the same building as Morrissey
Ours is during the day, his is in the evening. However, his rider states that there can be no meat -- or the mention of meat -- in the building for the entire day, even when the band isn't there. I have to feed 20 volunteers and the food is donated, making it a challenge to go meatless.

Directives like this make me want to set up a giant rib smoker on the loading dock and, when questioned, innocently say "What? You said no meat in the BUILDING. This is outside."

I respect his position on meat but I don't see why it must apply to everyone in the building when he isn't there. Irritating.
