but then again, I don't really consider Lawrence a part of Kansas most of the time. You can't go wrong with the hometown of the Cathedral of Basketball and the birthplace of basketball coaching, not to mention the final resting place of the inventor of basketball.
We were on our way from Minneapolis to Phoenix via bus (youth group tour). I don't remember much except stopping at a cafe in Emporia where I ate a slice of pie, and the apple pie was virtually indistinguishable from the lemon pie, which is somewhat disturbing.
Not much..I lived there for almost 30 years. What I hate is the small mindedness and bigotry that is prevalent in some of the smaller towns. All of my siblings still live there. Most are married to small town men who love their guns and don't know any people of color. And they are a bit upset and outraged that the evil Democrats have the presidency . Of course they are all lower income and the ones who have jobs are worried about losing them. I'll never understand them.
