You know, I really just didn't like "Slumdog Millionaire" that much.

Many points of the movie were quite entertaining, and although it was a "good" movie, I, honestly, can't understand all the hype around it.

My main criticism is that I didn't feel connected with the characters- whether I couldn't relate to who they were, or the acting wasn't very good, or what, I don't know. What I do know is that, for everything that happened to them, I didn't feel like I cared.

The story was interesting and the shot direction was great. The scenes running around with the little kids through the town were hilarious, probably the best part of the movie. But the rest...I dunno, there were a couple of parts that were even quite predictable.

I would really disagree if it won best movie at the Oscars is all I'm saying. Frankly, I can't believe "The Wrestler" wasn't even nominated- only Rourke? He ought to win that.

Anyway.

1. I liked it, but found it contrived.
I actually thought Benjamin Button was more realistic, and that was about a man who aged backwards. I thought it really touched on what life was about, and that it isn't always good.

Although I liked Slumdog, it really strained reality for me just a little too much. He just happened to have an answer to EVERY question based on some crazy life experience. Then, the lifeline questions should have been the easier ones to answer.

That being said, Slumdog seems to be the favorite to take the Oscar.

I think Rourke or Langella should win best actor, but that may go to Penn.

2. Langella was my favorite for best actor as Nixon until
I saw The Wrestler. What he did was incredible.

I didn't see Milk. But the previews that I did see- Penn just sounded like Penn. He sounded like a character I'd seen from him before.

I'm sure it would be different if I saw the movie, but until I do, either Rourke or Langella.
