5. really? it kinda bugged me
like they were too good to just talk to ordinary people- for me, just a bit too much attitude. I do like how Mickey Rourke has his beloved Loki in a picture locket around his neck, and on a stick pin on his lapel; that is very sweet.

6. That's how I felt.
That's all they did "roll by" even as the reporter was talking they were steaming up to roll away again. But that's their plan - be the hard one to get. I don't know, if they don't want to talk to anybody, just walking through the back door and take a seat

Hard to put on the Versace or Dior when the kids are grabbing at you with grubby little hands.

13. I agree, if you don't want to talk to anybody
arrive at the last minute, and just go inside and sit down. But that's not what they did. They arrived early, and wave at all the fans, but haven't stopped to talk to E! or ABC. Not cool, IMHO.

Anne Hathaway is looking incredible; contrary to Brangelina, she seems very genuine and gracious.... :hi:

21. I love seeing the "all-around" folks get the nods.
The people who do both stage and screen and have an incredible body of work behind them. The brilliant newcomers I always enjoy, too, but I get tired of the movie stars who can't really act (I'm still gobsmacked that Jolie's over-the-top, hystrionic, embarassing performance was nominated this year) getting Oscar noms.

For the sake of the kid actors who have to go back to the slums, then maybe the studio will have pressure of them to give them a share of the $150 million dollar profits so far.

It's nice to hear WHY people are nominated. The way they're switchin from complete irreverence to these generous tributes is a great pacing choice. I hope they keep it up.

But TWA was more because I love black humor than anything else.

As usual, the animated shorts this year were all fantastic. I'm not an animator, so I have no idea what criteria the members who can vote in that category use to decide their pick.

If there's someone here who's a designer (I'm an actor, so I can use a power tools when necessary but don't really understand the rest of how your brain works on the rest of what y'all do), I'd love to hear you weigh in on what kind of stuff gets a film nominated for art direction.

193. No kidding ...

The problem with the musical has never been the format. It's been the implementation.

Ya can't (or shouldn't) just slap a bunch of songs together and call it art. Well, you can call it art, but don't expect me to pay for it if it sucks.

And that sucked.

Felt like I was trapped in an elevator in my own living room.

165. for anyone who doesn't think the musical is "back"
go see a movie called Once. More emotional punch than just about anything in that musical number tongiht, ok back to the Oscars..

166. I don't dispute the claim.
I just don't think that boring over-produced musical numbers are the way to celebrate it.

172. This was an apology for Brokeback Mountain.
I know he hated this awards stuff, but good god he was an amazing actor. He deserved to be recognized for it over and over an over.

I miss his brilliance, and his beautiful voice.

175. I remember the night that he was there when Brokeback Mountain was nominated...
and I thought he looked well handsome. It was almost like he was humbled by being there and looked oh so nervous. I am glad that he won tonight.

That was a terrible miscarriage of justice. That movie should have swept, period.
