1. It was nice
(Except for the musical bit...)

But he gets a 94%.

6. Seriously.. why the hate for the musical numbers?
I thought the medley with Beyonce was great. It certainly was worlds better than the interpretive dance numbers Debbie Allen used to do back in the 80's.

3. No.
Those musical numbers were terrible.

He's likeable, but I didn't like him as the host.

7. I don't know if I liked him, or was just surprised he wasn't horrid
Of all the recent hosts, I thought Steve Martin did the best job.

4. I miss Billy Crystal
or even Johnnie Carson.

Jackman is likable enough, but the musical numbers were nothing to write home about, let alone worthy of making the show run an hour over norm or tolerable.

10. No, House is Hugh Laurie.
I don't think Hugh Jackman is on American television. He is an Australian and started out on Australian television. Then he did musicals. His most famous role is Wolverine in the X-Men movies.

14. I'm not a big X-Men fan, but Wolverine is a decent superhero.
Actually, I did see some clips from Jackman's musical theater shows and he does a great job.

8. I voted Maybe because I only saw the first 20 minutes of the Oscars.
Nothing personal against the Oscars, I'm just not feeling well. I liked the opening number. I'm not a Hugh Jackman fan. Again, I think Nathan Fillion should have been named the Sexiest Man Alive, but Jackman is a decent guy.

he really capitalized on his talents performing live theatre. Loved the big production numbers. He's gorgeous, gracious, AND he can sing and dance!

12. Hugh Jackman can read the phonebook to me in a monotone.
And I will STILL drink his bath water.

Does that clear it up for you?

BTW, my long-time girl crush, Kate Winslet, won the Oscar so I am on cloud 9 right now. :woohoo:

I was very surprised that Hugh Jackman even got asked
to host the Oscars.

He certainly was no Billy Crystal, and he was a little
too Broadway for me.

Another thing,I cannot figure out how People magazine voted
him the sexiest man alive in 2008.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Seacrest are around the same age,
so if they don't want to come out of the closet, then they should at least have a secret rendez vous! lol

Seriously though,I was disappointed with Hugh Jackman tonight,
and would have rather seen someone like Steve Martin or
Whoopi Goldberg host the show.

Hopefully next yr,the Academy will pick a newbie to host the show.

25. I like the opening of the show number with the budget sets
and the absurdity of Jackman playing Frost to Anne Hathaway playing Nixon!

She had a much stronger singing voice than I expected.

26. Anne Hathaway is much more talented, and interesting to watch
I would have much rather watched Anne Hathaway host
the show,as she was a lot more intriguing to watch, despite
the fact that she wasn't on screen for long.

I bet the musical numbers ruined the ratings for the show.

Sorry,I'm just not a Hugh Jackman fan.

27. I like Hugh Jackman a lot.
I think he is a far better actor than the roles he gets, and he was cheerful, upbeat and funny host who kept the pace of the show moving. I knew of his song-and-dance abilities before this.

32. I'm pretty sure Will Smith was a singer (well rapper) for quite a spell
during the late eighties and nineties.

I think he would also make an interesting choice.

31. I lost interest in the opening number, and as a result, missed much of the show.
It just seemed....hokey. I know Jackman might appeal towards some, but I don't know. I like the idea of an actual comedian doing the hosting.
