1. A very underrated actress.
She was great in "Homicide" as Kay Howard, too.

You might want to check out Danny Trejo's long filmography:

2. "Frozen River" was a great movie.
Incredibly realistic and moving. The character of Ray reminded me a little of my parents--trying so hard to get something, anything decent for their kids. When she said that she was, "tired of people stealing from me" it really hit home.

5. I saw her on the Oscars last night and thought "she looks familiar"
she was all glammed up for the show -which she usually is not

So I googled her

an amazing amount of work in really just 3 years

she has been around a while.

6. Homicide: Life On the Street.
She was one of the murder cops on that very most excellent television show.

Since then I've seen her as a guest star on several of the police/lawyer procedural shows. She's better than most.

9. Starring with such acting powerhouses as Sarah Michelle Gellar and Hillary Duff
and only 1 or 2 of those she has star billing.

I'm glad of her nomination but her name will fade away quickly as character actor in supporting roles. You could probably say the same for Richard Jenkins. Both he and Leo managed to latch on to brilliant starring roles in small independant flicks but neither have real drawing power as a staring role.
