Update on my cousin...

First of all, thank you all for the good vibes, they seem to be working! Nick is in the hospital in San Antonio, safe and recovering.

The quick story is that he was in a Humvee that ran over an IED. Thankfully, the Humvee was new and had really good armor plating. The Humvee caught on fire and Nick was trapped by his seatbelt. One of his buddies cut him out and dragged him out of the vehicle. Though there were other injuries, everyone survived. Nick was burned on both legs and on one arm and hand. The good news: he's off the ventilator and his lungs are expected to be fine.

He is undergoing a skin graft on his calves today, and will be in a drug-induced coma for the next 4-5 days.

My uncle has absolutely raved about the care he is receiving. He says that everyone, from the volunteers on up, are completely helpful and wonderful.

So, thank you. He's got a long road ahead, but it looks like he's going to be fine.

I'm glad he's getting great care. That's what our troops deserve for what they do.

I wish him a speedy recovery.
