1. I started it
a couple of people I know do it. I can't figure out yet what the point of it is  I kept hearing on the radio, "twitter us, twitter this.." now I can't find what I'm supposed to twitter. I added Jane Goodall and Al Gore but I can't tell if it's supposed to actually be them I'm following.

3. Would you follow them via mobile phone or on your computer?
Wouldn't it be annoying to have your phone vibrate every few minutes with updates? I suppose it depends where you keep it...

6. yeah it would be annoying
Someday I'll get a new phone, an newfangled kind, but I probably won't keep myself online all the time.

I guess that's the point of twitter huh.. just seeing what's up with everyone. ..I'd personally want to stay offline mostly, but I guess someday I'll get used to carrying my whole computer in my hand.

9. I can't figure out the point, either.
Seems like a damn fruitless waste of time to me.

It's how I met other LGBT activists at a conference I recently attended and didn't know anyone else.

They sharerd that during the Prop 8 protests after the election twitter was the only way they could reorganize and continue the protests each time the police tried to shut them down.

7. Interesting.
How do you do it? By phone? Are you constantly looking at your phone?

11. I tweet both with my phone and computer.
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 01:00 AM by JackBeck
And no, I'm not constantly checking my phone or computer. I've actualy met more progressive and activist individuals over the last month using twitter than I have during my years at DU.

I've also had more success at recruiting participants for marriage equality events in NJ through twitter than I ever had using DU.

16. It sounds like you're really making the most of it.
I have to confess, you're the first person I've heard of who uses it to really connect with people. It was sounding like yet another way for the info-tech industrial complex to keep people addicted to expensive gadgets. But your use of it sounds actually useful.

14. No - I prefer hypo-connectivity over hyper-connectivity
I can't see any areas where twitter (or any other social networking activity) would improve my life right now...
