25. Industrial Dance - Johnny Rotten & Afrikaan Bambatta...Time Zone
did I step back into the late 80's...???

World Destruction (Time Zone)

Speak about destruction. (x3)

This is a world destruction, your life ain't nothing.
The human race is becoming a disgrace.
Countries are fighting with chemical warfare.
Not giving a damn about the people who live.
Nostradamus predicts the coming of the Antichrist.
Hey, look out, the third world nations are on the rise.
The Democratic-Communist Relationship,
won't stand in the way of the Islamic force.
The CIA is looking for you.
The KGB is smarter than you think.
Brainwash mentalities to control the system.
Using TV and movies - religions of course.
Yes, the world is headed for destruction.
Is it a nuclear war?
What are you asking for?

This is a world destruction. Your life ain't nothing.
The human race is becoming a disgrace.
The rich get richer.
The poor are getting poorer.
Fascist, chauvinistic government fools.
People, Moslems, Christians and Hindus.
Are in a time zone just searching for the truth.
Who are you to think you're a superior race?
Facing forth your everlasting doom.
We are Time Zone. We've come to drop a bomb on you.
World destruction, kaboom, kaboom, kaboom!

This is the world destruction, your life ain't nothing.
The human race is becoming a disgrace.
Nationalities are fighting with each other.
Why is this? Because the system tells you.
Putting people in faceless categories.
Knowledge isn't what it used to be.
Military tactics to control a nation.
Who wants to be a president or king? Me!
Mother Nature is gonna work against you.
Nothing in your power that you can do.
Yes, the world is headed for destruction.
You and I know it, cause the Bible tells you.
If we don't start to look for a better life,
the world will be destroyed in a time zone!

15. HA!
You know, Canuck, if you didn't start this thread, I would have!

Yeah, I love a lot of that stuff - more the doomy art-rock than the dancey industrial, though. Most of that Ministry/Thrill Kill stuff just sounded like distortion-box disco to me. I liked "industrial" when the term meant white-noise stuff like Non, Throbbing Gristle and Whitehouse, though.

Here's one for the list: Fad Gadget.

22. Not lamented enough.
It was four full months after he died before I found out. No music media in my area covered the news, and none of my friends are really that into him, so I didn't have any kind of grapevine news. I found out when I saw a New York Times obit taped up to the wall in a college radio station, and I bummed heavily.

Funny story: once I heard something oddly familiar through the heating vent in my house - my downstairs neighbor was blasting what sounded for all the world like "Ricky's Hand." I called him and asked if he was listening to Fad Gadget. He said "Yeah, I'm sorry, is it too loud?" So I told him no, either turn it up louder or invite me downstairs. Cool guy - we wound up hipping each other to a lot of stuff that evening.

I was a huge Ministry and Cabaret Voltaire fan in my late teens early twenties. I also liked Nitzer Ebb and Front 242.

I miss my clubbing days. Back when I weighed about 100 pounds less and drooled over the fully made up males as I danced with my friends.

34. the big pools of drool must be very memorable!
My sister's friend used to say "He melts my butter" when she thought a boy was cute, so my sister and I used that when we went out dancing. We'd motion towards the fellow, and say "I'm a puddle." Then we joked about the difficulties of dancing in a puddle of melted butter.

I think we laughed a little more than was fashionable in those circles, but hey, we were having fun.

Now I'm a conservative looking 36 year old guy in a fleece vest (at least it's still black).

I have been to a couple of Goth events in the last few years, but I sense my age. I get lots of 'tude from early 20's BabyGoths.

I'd love to jump up on a table and say "Hey, I've gone drinking with Peter Murphy, Martyn Atkins, Nivek Ogre, and Budgie, so UP YOURS!", but somehow I never do...

Ministry
Summertime Daisies
KMFDM

Feeling B/Inchtaboktables (do they count?)
later Information Society (well, and their earlier stuff, but it isn't Goth at all!)
The Wild Simoan Gangsta Tribe
Skinny Puppy
Front 242
Atari Teenage Riot (too techno for this list?)

Anyway, I've liked the music in all the Goth bars I've ever been in, although I'm a Notagothi -- tend to be a punk with dark tendencies (and a few whimsies, as I'm currently listening to HaDorbanim {The Hedgehogs}, an Israeli, Hebrew-language pop/disco band!).

51. Techno has a good name? ;-)
Most of what I've heard sounds like, oh, sixteen measures of this, sixteen measures of that...and I have half a dozen friends who are/were regular ravers and two or three who still DJ raves and that sort of thing. ;-)

If I'm going to listen to dance music, give me some good straight-up disco any day. I'm all about the formalism, baby!

Incidentally, formalism is the reason I dig EN so much -- a lot of their songs don't sound like songs until you start listening to them in terms of hearing the *structure*. After that, it's "oh, yeah, verse...chorus...bridge...progression..." and so on! (Skinny Puppy's the same way.) It took me about a month of listening to them nonstop, trying to get my head around some of their weirder stuff, to get to that point, though, I'm sorry to say.

I still like Dead Can Dance, Bauhaus, Sisters, the Cure, etc. But I'm not Goth. :) I've never been much into Industrial, but I used to go to this industrial club called Kontrol Faktory in LA. It was alot of fun.

One of my Top Ten shows was seeing Dead Can Dance at UCLA back in the 90s. I think that was after the Into the Labyrinth.

55. Shriekback...Hammerheads (anthem of BushCo...)
Our time has come age of the hammerhead
This is our mission to be the darlings of god
Too late for silence too late for anything
It's all too much for me it's roots go down to deep for me
Our punishing fire an animal frenzy
These hammerhead people they know what dange is for
You let them in and now there everywhere
If it's mineral or vegtable it's back a little up a little

Shot push hammerheads bold and resolute
Marching balancing in too far to go back
Yes yes hammerheads swimming kissing
We are big and clever and we don't know anything
Purification by emersion in our filthy demon seed
We know the only things you like are paranoid sex and childish greed
Our own worst enemies they hold us to our word
Look at the beast inside us gonna get us this time but good
Whether we pull it out or push it in it all ends up the same
You know a hammerhead is a hammerhead by any other name

Onwards hammerhead bright and dangerous
Jumping running in the filed and factory
God save hammerheads keeping going
We are sleek and special and we're sure of something
Blessed are the airmen
Blessed are the shit kickers
Blessed are the jackhammers
Blessed is the big damage
Blessed are the faith healers
Blessed are the moon wlakers
Blessed are the snake people
Blessed are the heat seakers

56. THIS ONE TOO! OIL AND GOLD!
BIG BLACK NEMSIS - OIL AND GOLD (shriekback)

In a jungle of the senses
Tinkerbell and Jack the ripper
Love has no meaning, not where they come from
But we know pleasure is not that simple
Very little fruit is forbidden
Sometimes we wobble, sometimes we're strong
But you know evil is an exact science
Being carefully correctly wrong

Chorus
Priests and cannibals, prehistoric animals
Everybody happy as the dead come home
Big Black Nemesis, parthenogenesis
No one move a muscle as the dead come home

We feel like Greeks, we feel like Romans
Centaurs and monkeys just cluster round us
We drink elixirs that we refine
from the juices of the dying
We are no monsters, we're moral people
and yet we have the strength to do this
This is the splendour of our achievement
Call in the airstrike with a poison kiss

Chorus
Priests and cannibals, prehistoric animals
Everybody happy as the dead come home
Big black nemesis, parthenogenesis
No-one move a muscle as the dead come home

How bad it gets, you can't imagine
the burning wax, the breath of reptiles
god is not mocked, he knows our business
Karma could take us at any moment
Cover him up.....I think we're finished
You know it's never been so exotic
but I don't know, my dreams are visions
We could still end up with the great big fishes

Chorus
Priests and cannibals, prehistoric animals
Everybody happy as the dead come home
Big black nemesis, parthenogenesis
No-one move a muscle as the dead come home

57. Damn you!
That was an old favorite of mine, and now it's going over and over in my head. Sigh...and I was just getting ready to go to bed too.

Now I'm going to have to run out any buy a copy. Double sigh.

;-)
