I will probably bake some sort of pie. Maybe have both chicken pot pie for dinner and a fruit pie for dessert.

That 3/15 also happens to be my birthday has no bearing on my plans. :P

24. Did you realize today was "square root day"?
some math teachers are celebrating the fact that the month and the day are both the square root of the year. Next one occurs April 4, 2016. I just learned about it today or I would have planned something. We usually "allow" students to bring pie to class if they want to bake enough for the whole class. So far we haven't had any takers!

47. I decided years ago that celebrating Pi on 3/14 involved immoral capitulation to
an irrational American style of writing dates as m/d/y -- and resolved that I myself, to promote the more rational European style of writing dates as d/m/y, would celebrate Pi only on 31/4

Do it my way: it saves time and energy

49. European Pi Day should be 22/7
because 22/7 is a better approximation to Pi than 3.14 (or 3,14 if you prefer).

53. Actuallly, 3.14 is closer to the true value than 22/7. But 22/7 is a continued
fraction convergent to pi, so it is in some sense a closest fractional approximation with such small numbers

The next continued fraction convergent 333/106 is correct to four decimal places, and the following one 355/113 is in error by only 0.000000267

But my real objection is that celebrating Pi on 22/7 involves much more work than celebrating it on 31/4

54. Nuh-uh.
The difference between pi and 22/7 is about 0.00126448925.
The difference between pi and 3.14 is about 0.0015926536.

22/7 wins.
Never doubt the convergents.

64. Pi is not only irrational;
Pi transcends mere irrationality.

But 3.14158675309 is rational, if mysterious. The significance of this particular quantity is not immediately obvious. He is not a very close approximation to Pi. Maybe he's not intended to be.

68. Exactly the same - chicken pot pie, but our own
Pennsylvania dutch way, not really a pie, but a thick chicken stew with large homemade noodles. The PA Dutch 3 basic food groups are starch, fat and sugar.

Maybe an apple pie or frozen peach pie for desert.
