ok bookworms - help me remember a title of a book
It's a WWII (State-side, not shoot em up, battle stuff) period piece written about a guy (the hero) who has a seedy past, gets involved in broadcast radio and of course a love interest and murder. Starts out in California then moves to the Atlantic coast. There are German spies involved, trying to send code messages on the radio to subs off shore. Was a really cool "feeling" - went into a lot of detain on what it was like to create radio shows back in the 40's.

I CANNOT remember the author or title and it's driving me crazy.

There is ONE key thing I remember - the "secret password or "code" is WHITEMARSH.
