6. Oh, yeah...
An ex-girlfriend introduced me to her music. She liked to go to sleep with "The Book of Secrets" on continual loop. That's the only CD I have of her... I should get more. The Indian-sounding song on that CD brings back good memories of that girlfriend (who was East-Indian) dancing for me. Hotcha!

8. Hell yeah!
I got three; "The Book of Secrets," "Parallel Dreams," and "The Visit." It took me four years to find "Parallel Dreams." I got hooked when The Mummer's Dance was the theme song for the very short-lived series "Legacy." :(

11. Saw her in concert...
Back on the M&M tour. What would that be, 96? She seemed like a really good egg.

Anyhow you can keep up with her doings at her site: www.quinlanroad.com

She's playing a few shows, lately - mostly benefits such as this:
-----
On February 7, 2004 Loreena McKennitt will join in the effort to raise money for, and awareness of, ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) by playing a short set at Elizabeth's Concert of Hope in Hamilton, Ontario.

Loreena, accompanied by longtime collaborator Brian Hughes, will join artists Dan Hill, Murray McLauchlan, Jesse Cook, Cindi Church, Quagmyre, Ian Thomas, and Marc Jordan at the Theatre Aquarius for the 4th annual event, which so far has raised over $700,000 to benefit ALS research and patient care

:bounce:

I should add the Mask and Mirror is probably my favorite, though I tend to listen to her recent live CD more than any of her other things...

Me!

I first heard the woman on Mountain Stage. She did a set that included Dark Night of the Soul, Bonny Swans, Stolen Child, and three others. I ordered 3 CDs the next day. IMO DNotS is one of the most beautiful recordings in the last 30 years. Listen to it with headphones some time.

This is VERY rare music - you won't hear anything like it on the radio. One of Canada's great gifts to the US and the world.

BTW, her music was also featured on the sadly short-lived "EZ Streets"

Eidt:

The MS set features her own guitarist, Brian Hughes, who is a maestro.

19. Hopefully a new album sometime next year
I heard rumors a while back she'd retired, but luckily, they turned out to be false! I look forward to a new album whenever Loreena has it ready for us.
