You have Four international conferences play a 125-150 game schedule.
An American Conference (Current MLB)
Japanese Conference
Cuban Conference
Latin American Conference

Top two teams from each conference advance to a bracket style playoffs.
5 Game series for the first two rounds
7 game World Series

I think it would be absolutely huge in Japan and South America and would make the World Series truly mean something.

1. I think that would be fun!

As long as all the games were played using NL rules. (Yeah, I know I am a Twins fan and they play in the American League, but if I had my way, the Twins would be an NL team.)

:D

2. we would have to come to an agreement on rules that fit ALL the conferences
I've been watching the Japan-Korea game on ESPN and those fans are SOO passionate. I would love to see the Boston Red Sox or Minnesota Twins play for the world series in front of 50,000 screaming Japanese or Cuban fans. Or hell, the top Japanese team having to play in front of a packed Yankee Stadium for all the marbles.

4. I'm all for anything that keeps the same teams from winning it every year.

5. Haha, seriously
it might make the tradionalists' heads explode seeing a Cuban or Panamanian team win the World Series. But at least we wouldn't be lying by calling it that.

6. Yeah true.
Unlike the first time around, this year's WBC has been amazing. Personally I'm rooting for Venezuela to win it all, but its looking like anything goes right now.

7. Venezuela looks great, so does Japan and Korea
That was a great game last night. I wish though that the announcers had treated it as such instead of talking about random crap during play. But while the announcers may have been treating as just another Spring training game, those fans were so into it, you could feel the energy. The US team has it's hands full when it faces Japan this weekend.

8. Not sure Cuba could support a conference all by itself
but the Havana Sugar Kings (the old Batista-era team name) would certainly be a force in the Latin American Conference alongside San Juan, Mexico City, Santo Domingo, Caracas, etc.

Also you might want to throw Seoul (at least) into the Asian Conference alongside the existing Japanese teams in the Central and Pacific Leagues.

9. Yeah, I agree
Depending on how many Latin American teams there are, have a Caribbean Conference and a South American Conference. The Caribbean conference made up of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Mexico. Also change the Japanese Conference to the Asian Conference to include teams from South Korea and China.
