Poll question: Favorite Dustin Hoffman Film
Edited on Sat Mar-21-09 08:40 AM by Bertha Venation
Even though he's my favorite actor, I know I've forgotten some, and there's just not room to cover them all. I tried to get them in chronological order...

(The "Kramer vs Kramer" poll made me think of this)

And: Without looking it up, be the first to name for which films he won his Oscars.

I deleted my previous post.

Too many errors, and too many spoilers trying to correct the errors.

See it. It's a great story.

30. Eleventh for Little Big Man
Very powerful picture. I love the epic sweep: I saw the movie at a young age and it really blew my mind (as did Faye Dunaway!)and primed me to read every Michener I could get my hands on. Michener had nothing to do with LBM but his novels have a "since the beginning" feel to them.

Another movie of the period, Soldier Blue, examined the massacre by the river which I believe was the Sand Creek action.

Another theme I loved was what wild stories there are in some of the apparent shells of people in the Nursing homes. This has informed my life-- John Prine's "hello in there", etc.

Another is just how bogus the race meme was: a little dirt and you are a colored indian, clean up and you are a little white boy. This was in the early seventies when lawful segregation of "races" was a recent memory and the apparatus of brutal enforcement was still in place in many parts of the country.

Epic, classic, timeless. A beautiful movie.
