Fla. student suspended from bus for passing gas
LAKELAND, Fla.—An eighth-grader was suspended from riding the school bus for three days after being accused of passing gas. The bus driver wrote on a misbehavior form that a 15-year-old teen passing gas on the bus Monday to make the other children laugh, creating a stench so bad that it was difficult to breathe. The bus driver handed the teen the suspension form the next day.

Polk County school officials said there's no rule against flatulence, but there are rules against causing a disturbance on the bus.

The teen said he wasn't the one passing gas.

Whether he did it or not, he might have gotten off easy. A 13-year-old student at a Stuart school was arrested in November after authorities said he broke wind in class.

when the accusation of a fart is enough to get you suspended from being able to get to school.

:wtf:

Everybody farts at least a few times every single day whether they like it or not. If that's now forbidden on those buses then that bus company should be put out of business right now.

3. I will have you know
that I have NEVER ONCE farted.

I think people who fart should get the chair. x(

Or at the very least, be sterilized so we can end this scourge in this generation. x(

4. Of course the kid said it wasn't him...
It's human nature not to own up to farts.

remember KamaAina's First Law of Flatulence: "He who smelt it, dealt it." :P

infiltration.

23. I suppose no one farts north of the Mason-Dixon line.
Only the sweetest of rose-petal-scented perfumes pass from between their superior Northern cheeks, and certainly never in public. The horror! :eyes:

8. Students do not have the right to be crude and gas their classmates.

They do it deliberately and laugh about it, as any teacher or bus driver can tell you, and sometimes they create a smell like something has been dead a few days.

19. How can one fart deliberately?
If the gas isn't in there, there's nothing you can do. :wtf:

20. Pretty easily. Ever had someone say "Pull my finger"?

They deliberately do it LOUDLY and laugh about it, the worse it smells, the harder they laugh. I've also heard boys telling one another what good "ammunition" that day's lunch would be so I'd say they are deliberately manufacturing the gas. Go teach school, see for yourself.

10. The south is losing it's touch. Used to be, they'd execute for trivial shit. They're getting soft.

I'm disappointed. I mean, I expect a certain level of unthoughtful, mob-mentality, solve-it-with-violence, damn-the-laws kind of lower-class dysfunctional justice and thinking from the south.

It's almost like the south is becoming civilized. Probably the influence of all those damn Yankee retirees moving there, turning the good soup with their "manners" and "etiquette" and "edjukashun" and non-mob mentality.

15. The Sunday Washington Post
runs a column called "Click & Clack." It's a q&a about cars by the Car Talk guys, Tom and Ray Magliozzi. This letter was in the most recent column:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/20/AR2009032002141.html

"Dear Tom and Ray:

My problem began when I was driving down the road in our 2005 Dodge Caravan, packed full of our own kids and kids from the neighborhood. My elderly mother was asleep in the front seat when one of the neighborhood kids excreted certain organic gasses, which announced themselves with a remarkably acute "crraaaaccckkkk." My mother startled awake in her seat and said, "What?" This resulted in a tidal wave of elementary-and-middle-school-aged hilarity.

Mom refuses to get back in the vehicle, claiming, "That awful thing is still loose in there." What I need is an authoritative statement on whether it's possible that the "awful thing is still loose" in the vehicle. Exactly how long is it justified for people to avoid a vehicle interior after such an incident?

Distraught Daughter"

I laughed until tears rolled. Bertha was napping when I read it the first time, and I read it to her later that day. I could barely get through the letter because I was, again, laughing until tears rolled.

Something tells me he is not a sweet child who innocently farted one day and the bus driver kicked him off.

24. Farting on the bus is dangerous.
If the driver hears it she might laugh so hard that she drives into a pole or something.
