The majority of threads in the Lounge are far from serious, thus the existence of Recommend Fairies :P

Is this a rule among the Rec Fairies? Is it a pledge one takes to became a member?

since I was going around reccing the rest. I assured the offended it was not I and learned they already suspected someone else.

So, if you don't rec the serious and/or emotional threads (someone/some-pet died/is ill/on hard-times/et cetera) you avoid the likely grief put upon you by the assumptions that are sure to come.

It's just common sense, really, not a hard'n'fast rule :)

This just goes to show the travesty of it all. You Rec Fairies have taken something that is supposed to be a place of honor and sincerity, and taken it to a level of perverseness that borders on the asinine.

Perhaps, it should be considered that the recs appear beside the person's username.

Recs count for nothing official in the Lounge. They really do nothing more than boost the ego of the person that started the thread. No Lounge thread can be rec'ed to the Greatest Page. So, really, why have the function here at all? My guess is it would take too much effort to rewrite the software, or that function would be gone from ASAH, too (where you can't even make any rec, serious or not, yet the column remains, ever-full of 0's.)

Everywhere else I venture to on DU, rec's mean something, and I mean my recs "out there" (Rec what you mean and mean what you rec ;)) Since they truly don't mean much of anything here, or not like they do elsewhere, you get the rec-fairies. I'm new to the field, too, so perhaps find one of the ancient rec-fairies and complain to their shift-supervisor :P

Rec-Fairy shifts are easy to remember:

3:33ayem to 11:11ayem
11:11ayem to 12:34 pm
12:34pm to 9:11pm

Again, since it doesn't do much, I find no harm in using it for fun this way. Most people here don't get upset about it. Or complain to the "regulars" here that started it long before I jumped into the fray...

I realize that The Lounge Threads can not make the Home Page but that is no reason to just rec Every thread one clicks.

What was once cute (?) is now just old, annoying and slightly sad.

You have a strange way of looking at things. I personally think recs are pretty worthless board wide. I've seen pieces of shit threads get hundreds of recs by idiots. For some reason I don't think looking at a rec is going to ruin the visual of the board

"The lounge recs mean nothing to me, so they must mean nothing to anyone else."

My way of looking at things might be different than yours,

I didn't get the $6000 I was hoping for, so I have to talk to the managers and let them know they are slacking in the scheduled and impromptu beatings. Obviously, my morale was just not good enough in the first half of March.
