for quite awhile. Can you elaborate? I'm not sure I've seen that kind of attitude displayed very often........... :shrug:

blaming the girlfriend of a male politician for said politician's downfall seems very sexist and unfair to me.

The girlfriend is partly to blame, yes, but not entirely to blame.

8. It's similar to the attitude that the mistress gets more scorn than the cheating husband.

When the infidelity goes the other way (cheating wife) it's rare that people *blame* the man for breaking up the marriage -- it's still the woman's fault.

In the case of Edwards, he was a politician for long enough to know that such an affair would be deleterious to his career,. I can't fathom how someone that smart and that politically savvy wouldn't understand that.
