2. I hate to say this. But I am short-ish anyway, so no.
Which is terrible because it is very unfair and ugly.

"No" means that you would go out with a shorter guy

And I am embarrassed to admit that.

I was surprised at the majority of "no" votes, and then I voted "yes," but, of course, I meant "no."

The one I was most crazy about and had an off-on-off-on relationship with for 8 yrs, I mean crazy for, the bad boy, one you wouldn't bring home to mom, was probably 5'2 at the most. I am 5'7. I loved short guys. Maybe because I could kick their ass??? J/K

It would never be a deal-breaker for me!

I prefer men taller than myself, but I dated many who were shorter...

After all, when you're in bed, it no longer matters...;)

If they were a lot shorter than me it would bother me because I'm only 5'5 so any guy a lot shorter than me is gonna be pretty freaking short. If I liked everything else, I'd certainly consider it if he wasn't much shorter than me.

12. No, because I'm already short.
I'm five foot three.

I used to date great big guys over six feet tall, but now I don't like tall guys.

Tall guys intimidate me, and they LIKE to intimidate people. I think that's bad. Power imbalances bother me. I am literally scared of tall men and tall women too.

My guy is five foot eight and I feel completely equal to him. I can wear his slacks b/c our legs are the same length. We can walk in perfect synch with our arms around each other. I think that's cool.

I don't know what most women consider to be tall, but I'm 6'2". To you ladies who consider that to be tall, please be advised that I don't go around intimidating people for the hell of it. :eyes:

40. Oh, just rub it in!!
I've dated short men and tall men.

Personally prefer taller men, though I do have to tell them to slow down so that I'm not jogging beside them. :P I'm five feet tall.

I find taller men to be more relaxed in the world. I run into short men who seem to have a chip on their shoulders.

And he is 6'2.5".

I voted that I would not mind dating a guy shorter than me. I'm 5'3" so they would be pretty short, but I dated a couple of guys about the same height I am and it never bothered me. I was more interested in the type of person they were than their height or how they looked.

31. I know a couple of tall guys who are very friendly and pleasant.
I was married to a guy who is 6 foot 7 and a narcissist. He was emotionally abusive to me. When I went to his parents' house, they would stand around and gripe at me saying "You're so short!" like it was a fucking character flaw.

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :grr: :banghead:

His mother was the biggest, tallest (6 ft) AND fattest (4 ft wide in the butt) white woman I've ever seen. And stupid as hell too.

After the divorce he married a woman who is shorter than I am!!!!

I once saw a guy who looks a lot like him, and I flinched. He looks like a real tall version of Red Green.

So this was a gut reaction. I've been intimidated by tall people my whole life, as well as authority figures in general. My parents were both a lot taller than I am, and they were busy trying to control me too.

SIGHHHH........

32.  Well, I can see how tall people as a category would not be your favorites!
And can understand the gut reaction. Personally I have an instant antipathy towards Swedish men due to a bad experience in my past, but I have met some since that were not as much an a-hole as the one I knew.

39. It all makes as much sense as me hating short people

(who, I have it on good authority, got no reason to live and compound that truth by wearing nasty little shoes) because of my numerous run-ins with men who manifest classic symptoms of Napoleon Syndrome, especially when they have a degree of institutional power over a taller person. Although it's been my experience that many shorter-than-average men exhibit said pathology (yes, Swedish short men are the worst, hogging all of our vowels and much of the world supply of natural blondes), I count among my bestest buddies a good number of men of decidedly lower-then-average vertical stature. So it kinda evens out, like everything else. Except those damske Swedes, of course, buncha Saab-driving suicidal dentists that they are.

And aren't everyone's parents taller than they are? At least to a point?

54. Hey smartass!!
That was pretty hilarious. So you got a problem with Swedes. I got a problem with a tall Finn I once dated. He admitted he enjoyed intimidating people.

My parents were STILL taller than me after I was grown.
I'm five foot three.

Mom was about five seven and seemed to just loom over me. Dad was five-eleven and 180 pounds - big guy by my standards. They were both growing up in the Depression, pretty large people for their day.

Mom's mother was about five foot nine and BOSSY as hell. Stood over me and yelled and shook her finger at me. I had uncles on both side who were tall and skinny -- six foot two or three.

And I have worked for a short tyrant with a Napoleon Complex. He was still taller than me. :D

so a bit shorter (one or two inches) isn't a problem. If he was really fantastic and not intimidated by 5'10" women, even a lot shorter wouldn't be a problem.

But a random short guy (a random any guy) just walking up to me and asking me out?

I'd want to know a bit about him first.

I'm five foot six and a half. Height has never been an issue with me. I actually find average height to shorter guys to be much more "down to earth" (pun inteneded) Tall guys are sometimes pricks because women tend to be attracted to taller guys and they know it.
