Hives. Eeek.
For the past 2 weeks now. At first, I thought we were being invaded by bedbugs - until I found none and the s.o. and the cats weren't scratching. :(

I mean, how much stress do you have to be under to have your entire body itch like someone just set you on fire?

Plus I hate taking Benadryl. It puts me in a coma. :(

1. What pisses me off is how hard it is to find a doc who takes itching seriously.
It can make you as miserable as a bad toothache or chronic pain, but when you mention itching to the doctor, they often just write it off as insignificant.

And I agree on Benadryl. When I was having problems with insomnia, that was the first thing my doctor mentioned. I had to point out to him that benadryl knocks me out so much that it takes half the day to shake off the fatigue.

2. I'm sorry.
I started getting them a few years ago. I never had any major allergies to speak of, then all of a sudden I started getting hives. Aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofin. I can't take anything like that anymore even in baby doses, or my scalp becomes covered in hives. x(

3. husband gets them sometimes when he gets a stomach virus!
weird and freaked us out the first time - had a friend who was a dermatologist and he said not that uncommon, but I sure had never heard of it

4. Eucalyptus oil, maybe Listerine, might help?
Listerine has eucalyptus in it that soothes itches...But...It suddenly dawned on me that I had chickenpox when I was 16...I get outbreaks of the skin itching on my legs that drive myself crazy! I always attributed it to the dry heat in wintertime but I never thought that it might be hives?
