3. Are you kidding me? Hell yeah!
Was lucky enough to see him with BB King at the Concord Pavilion. Love all those blues pioneers.

But then you probably knew that didn't ya?:)

4. The oldest living Grammy recipient
and a true legend of the old Delta blues genre. My son (who is not old, black, or a legend) got to play with Pinetop last year at the Gibson guitar headquarters in Austin, and will never, ever forget the experience.

5. One of my favorite stories is about Pinetop...
Saw him a few years ago at a blues festival. he was led on stage and guided to his piano. Feeble. He barely had enough strength to make it out there.

He started playing and man was it ever slow. Tnetative. Just plain bad at first. But then, as he went on, he started to get more sprightly, Finger rolls, the boogie woogie sound started to come back. ll of a sudden he is playing like crazy. he is rocking in his seat, playing the shit out of that piano. really amazing.

The show ends, he gets up and walks off the stage, unaided. He goes backstage and his manager tells us that Pinetop will only sign for 15 minutes. For 15 minutes he signed talked and had a good time. Ten, as if on cue, he passed out in his chair.

But for the hour he was playing he was a much younger man. the music revaitlized him.
