Edited on Wed Apr-15-09 03:05 AM by Dammit Ann
Just curious...

I happen to like him.

For example...

1. I'd like him more if the judges could keep from felatting him every time he takes the stage.

4. Not me.
He's a pretty egotistical self indulgent type artist. He butchered that song last night every bit as bad as Ring of Fire.
I'm tired of people heaping praise on the self indulgent yodeling and calling it "making the song his own".
I generally watch AI but I'm tempted to discontinue it because of this asshole.

That's how I feel about Danny. He has this smug smile every time he's on stage. I can't believe the judges keep saying what a good singer Danny is because he is average at best (and that's being generous). It's obvious that Adam and Danny are suppose to be the final two. I hope Allison can pull off an upset and knock Danny out of the competition.

to me. He doesn't take things for granted because he has tried to break into the business for a long time and knows how hard it is. He doesn't act like just singing good is enough, he performs every week.

64. This isn't his first rodeo. I don't think he is cocky at all either.
As much experience as he has, he could come across as a know it all. But he doesn't. He actually took the judges advice and toned it down for the motown performance which was phenomenal.

And I like him the way I like Prince. I don't care what his sexual preference is, I think he's sexy. It's weird 'cause he and Prince are nothng like what I would look for in a guy. I guess sensual is a good word to describe him. If you check out his youtube videos there is one where he's on stage with a bunch of female dancers that made me go, "Ooh!" He is singing I Make You Crazy.

Lots of people will think I'm nuts, but as always, I don't give a shit.

IDOL'S finale about 2 years ago I was so excited! I didn't have TeeVoo back then or else it would still be on my play list. And I think Adam Lambert is sexy in the same way that Prince is. Hard to explain though.

Of course he's got talent, as he has theatrical musical training. But something about him really rubs me the wrong way. "Ring of Fire" just confirmed that for me.

I don't know, I hope that Matt guy wins. Probably my favorite out of the bunch.

And yes, I am commenting on American Idol and I don't know why. What are you looking at?!?!?

Lil Rounds would be in danger if it wasn't for the confrontation with Simon. I think that got her a lot of attention and got her supporters to vote. Kris was pretty boring and forgettable which is why I think he's likely to go home.

29. Yes, he's cute and the young girls will vote for him
but that only goes so far. He needs to win some average viewers who aren't concerned about his cuteness. With the performance he gave last night, I think he may be left with only the tween girls which I don't think is enough to keep him around. I wouldn't be surprised if Matt goes home though...he would be my second choice.

That is what pisses me off, too. They tell them to do something and then criticize them for even trying. Fine, tell them they did a bad job at it, but why not praise them for giving it a shot. She was horribly out of tune on that song.

9. He's pretty much saving this season,
as the rest are run-of-the-mill singers. I liked his "Ring of Fire," "Black and White," and "Mad World" very much, while I thought his "Satisfaction," "Play that Funky Music" and "Born to Be Wild" were kind of cheesy and overdone. Still I think he's the most interesting contestant they've had in a couple of years.

it was actually original, which i think is more respectful to the artist than attempting(and usually failing) to do a complete copy of the song. i thought it was awesome. over the top? yeah, but entertaining as hell. he's the only person on idol that i've ever seen who i think would successfully sell concert tickets because he puts on a show.

but i have a hard time believing that it was exactly like his version. he's a very unique singer and always seems to make changes, even small ones, to songs. i loved his version of mad world.

edit.. i found her version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd0A4ivlCYM

he used her theme and ran with it, but is different. listen to one after another. she obviously doesn't have the range he has.

that being said, my point is still the same. i think it's much more respectful to the artist to take a song and make it your own, showing that a great song can be interpreted in many ways(like cash did with NIN's hurt), than it is to do a karaoke version.

I’m a total Glambert that voted over and over for him last night.

Hotter than hotness and the best contestant that Idol has ever had.
The only thing is that I’d rather have him performing in musical theater than singing the crappy pop songs that he’s bound to sing if he wins. He was as great as Fiyero in Wicked (LA). I’d love to hear him sing Pity the Child from Chess or yes, in Rocky Horror.

I even downloaded his version of Mad World on itunes. I sat there for about a minute debating. Thinking, if I do this, I will official become an American Idol loser that actually thinks that these contestants are worth 99 cents. No! I can’t be. But I want it on my ipod! No! YES!
I’m a loser.

Too often they fawn over the person with the best voice - even when they lack any sort of charisma. Most big Pop stars (particularly FEMALE pop stars) have much more going for them than just a decent voice.

Those who didn't work their way up from the bottom got there because:

1. They're hot
2. They can carry a tune

Now Anoop, I do not like, although last night he did a really good job.

I will forever lament the fact that he's gay (and continue to delude myself into thinking he's at least bi). :P

73. I never cared for him before, but I thought last night was one of the best AI performances I've seen
Overall, I have no idea what he'd be like as an actual artist, I don't know that I'd ever choose to buy a song of his, but seeing what he comes out with every week is definitely worth watching AI for.

77. Adam was the best tonight - again.
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 08:06 PM by mvd
Kris was also surprisingly original and good. IMO, he's the one hitting his stride.

Anoop and Matt were fine - nothing special. Strong vocals from Allison, but bad arrangement. She sounded too much for the song. Danny for me, was, well, Danny. With Lil, the background vocals didn't allow her to soar.

78. Yes he was
I disagree about Kris...didn't like it at all. I thought he was boring and was vocally off tonight. Matt was bad. It was probably his worst performance. I agree with Simon...he looked desperate. You described Danny well. It wasn't a horrible performance but I really, really don't like him. My problem with Danny is that he's an average singer but the judges keep calling him "brilliant." We should just skip to the finale with Adam and Danny. I thought Lil had one of her stronger performances tonight but it still wasn't great. Anoop was boring but sounded good.

I think we'll be saying goodbye to Lil and Matt tomorrow.

79. I thought Kris did a good job of making that song his own
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 08:37 PM by mvd
But we can agree to disagree. Average is a good word for Danny. I don't like it at all when his vocals pick up. Matt MAY stay because he gets higher votes due to him almost leaving, but we'll see.

84. Yeah, he made the song fit him but
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 09:06 PM by blue_onyx
I don't think he sang it very well. I do like him though. He is one contestant who seems to have gotten stronger as the competition has gone on. Most people wrote him off as the pretty boy but he's actually done a good job.

I wish people would embrace the themes more. If it's country week and the contestant isn't country, they just pick a country song and sing it in a pop way. The themes have become pointless. I remember during the first season, Kelly Clarkson was so good at going from "Big Band" week to "MoTown" week. She could do any genre of music well. Now, people just "make it their own."

Have you noticed when Danny does this thing where he goes "ohhh...yeah, yeah?" Fantasia use to do it too and it drives me nuts.

Yes, Matt could get votes now that people know he's really in danger but he was bad enough (IMO) that this won't save him. You never know though...I'm usually wrong so he could very well be safe.

80. I didn't love Adam's performance tonight
for some reason, but he is indeed the best. This is only my second week watching this year and I thought Adam kicked ass last week.

I also like Allison. The rest are fair at best.

88. I agree. The others, while good, can't hold a candle to him.
He just has it all - a great voice, originality, good looks, etc. I do know that some don't like his look, but I think he's amazing.
