1. I said broke even
because I only owed $9. So small it is pretty much a break even. This is the first year I havent owed a substanital amount in years.

When I look at what was taken out, the added indignity of having to write them a check makes me want to hurl.

4. We filed our fed early and already got our refund, but
what kills us are the local taxes. DH's employer took out city tax for the city where he worked, as well as the newer school income tax for our district but we always end up paying our local village tax which doubled about 2 yrs ago. x( Thank goodness for the fed refund, otherwise there would be no money to pay the local.

6. I paid a little less than half what I owed

and sent them this with the note that my bailout hadn't yet arrived so I couldn't send them the full amount.

8. This is the first year I had to pay,
granted it was only $45.

First year in close to 20 years where I couldn't itemize deductions since I no longer own property or had dependants I could claim.

But at the same time, my effective rate was only about 16%. That's more than fair for what I make.
