Good morning Lounge

How are you today? It is hump day!! :woohoo: Not that I want to make anyone jealous but it is another beautiful spring day here. :)

Last night I went to bed at 10pm. Rather early for me. Which doesn't mean it was easy for me to get up this morning :eyes:

Tomorrow I won't be around. I am out of town to a meet-up with other librarians. I'll be back Friday.

I got to bed pretty early and am struggling to get up. :(

We have just one more day of crappy weather. By Saturday it will be 80 F! I will surely be sunbathing on the deck! :D. I need the vitamin D.

I had a meeting with the evil manager yesterday and basically told her she needed to lay off. My dad is still in the hospital, and I need to be able to deal with that without her looking over my shoulder. I think it caught her by surprise, but she said 'no problem'. Let's see what happens.....

The radiator needs replacing. It was filled last Thursday, and the car ran fine until yesterday around 4.

Well, the weekend is coming closer and also the time to relax :)

The conference will be interesting for me. It is a meet-up for users of the library software we use. So I will hear a lot of commercial for the software but also can connect with the other librarians and get new ideas what I could change in my work. It is fun and also I am away from my desk.

conferences are very useful. And you're right, it's nice to talk to colleagues from other libraries and do some brainstorming. Everyone comes out a winner. And the bonus? Away from work. It's always nice to have a change of scenery.

I wanted to take Friday off and stay in the town because a friend of me lives there. Planned to spend the weekend with her. But she is also out of town Thursday and isn't sure she will be back that day. So I will go home tomorrow evening again.

extend your stay through the weekend. Maybe next time things will work out.

I had a bad night. :cry: Some assholes moved in next door and smoked up the place, even though every room is clearly marked "no smoking." Opened the windows, but then we got all the traffic noise. Hotel wouldn't do anything about it. So we're packing up and moving to another hotel today. Got the bill under the door -- they have the nerve to charge full price. Everything we brought stinks of smoke. Some vacation, huh? Next time, I'll stay home. x(

Tomorrow sounds like fun for you. I can just imagine a bunch of you librarians getting together. :rofl: Don't know if you'll see me on Friday or not. Depends on what time we leave.

Sorry to hear about your hotel experience. I'd complain again when paying that bill. Insist that they did not give you a smoke free atmosphere as promised, and you want at the very least a discount on your bill.

Well, sort of. Harleydad had to come down on business and I had to see my docs. Usually, we only stay 2 nights before we head home. But his work needed him longer and I thought it would be a nice break from the nightmare at home. Now that we're changing hotels, I won't be able to go anywhere b/c harleydad will need the car to drive to work. Still, it's a nicer one (for cheaper!!??) and there is shopping nearby. I know this neck of the woods very well since we lived here for 12 years. If nothing else, I'll sit on the balcony and read my book.

I took it at a show a couple of years ago. After the show we were allowed to talk to the falconer and the owl sat there with him. So I got pretty close.

I read your thread about the smoking. That is very inconsiderate of the smokers. And it is unbelievable that the hotel didn't do shit about it. :hug:

Well, I'm going to see the manager before I leave. They're afraid that the smokers will call corporate if they get kicked out ... but they're not afraid I, AirmensMom, the letter-writer, will call corporate? :rofl:

Yes, it went well. Doc says I walked on my foot too soon after I hurt it. Now he wants me to wear high-top boots or sneakers for a while. Just in time for summer! Guess I can start a new fad. Of course, I didn't bring any with me. Other than that, I was having a perfect day until I got back to the hotel.

Then we decided to go to our favorite fondue place for dinner. Made reservations and everything. But it seemed very noisy and they told us they had 55 kids from some school. Felt like we were at a football game. We sat down, stayed for about 2 minutes, and decided to leave. It's too expensive a restaurant to not be able to enjoy it and my head was splitting from the noise. (And just imagine 55 kids with all those fondue pots! :scared: Must have been fun for the staff. :rofl:) So the manager insisted that we come back tonight and he gave us a nice coupon. We went to our other favorite place for sushi instead. The manager there was glad to see us. I shocked him by not ordering the all-you-can-eat for the first time EVER. :rofl: But he suggested a nice sashimi boat and we really enjoyed that ... not that I think anything fish-related would appeal to you in the least. :P

Oh .... you are going to eat at all those fancy places that you don't have in TN. Fondue, Sushi ... I am not sure the people in TN have ever heard of those dishes :rofl:

we made the mistake of going to JC for sushi once. Just once. It was TERRIBLE and I'm surprised we didn't get sick from it. They do have fondue in TN, but it's in Knoxville. How's that for a relaxing evening: Drive to Knoxville, which is still torn up, brave the traffic, have a nice relaxing meal, and then have to drive through that mess again. Hmm? Not to mention the fact that after an evening of fondue, you're lucky to stay awake long enough to drive a few blocks. :rofl:

when I come again to visit you I will probably fly into Knoxville again. We could have dinner there. harleydad isn't allowed to eat it so that he can drive us back safely :rofl:

Thank you :) It would be cool, I agree with you. I also think being a keeper in a zoo is a cool job. To work with animals instead of people is a lot easier I would think.

I think I did get the job. I have to get my papers together and then go back. Since he wants my tax card, SS#, the OK from my employer ... it sure sounds like I have the job.

I think I will have the tax card and a paper from my Health insurance in my mailbox today. Got the copy of my SS card and still wait for the OK of my employer. Hopefully get it Friday. Just emailed our Personal Manager and reminded him.

my goal is one day to go to germany for beer tours (samual adams is sponsoring one this summer but it is my 20th anniversary and my wife wants to go tour national parks out west)

you should try the original Czech Budweiser or any other Czech beer. Very tasty.

i will ahve to go and try it. fell in love with a belgian beer there one night.

It looks to be a beautiful, albeit, warm day. Went to a Neighborhood Watch meeting last night. Gosh folks are interesting! It was nice to get to know my neighbors a little bit better. Hope you learn something wonderful at your meeting.
