Some pictures from France, Monaco & Monte Carlo
These first few are from the medieval hilltop town of St. Paul de Vence.

These are a few pics from Cannes - home of the famous film festival.

This was a sandcastle some guy was building.

This was the view from a mountainside outside of Nice:

I believe the island-like area in the background is home to Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt.

This is the view from the castle in Monaco:

And, a few pics from Monte Carlo:

My rental car in Monte Carlo...(j/k, but these babies were a dime a dozen out there)

Did you go to Villefranche? It's near Monaco. My ship pulled in there for a few days. They have these wonderful 50-100 ft rock cliffs you can jump off of into the ocean. It helps if you've downed a few pitchers of sangria ahead of time.

2. I think we went through
but, that day was so hectic that it's hard to remember everything - we went on a tour that did Nice, Cannes, Monaco, Monte Carlo, St Paul de Vence and a perfume factory all in one day.

4. On Dad's sub...
they pulled into Monaco the day after the THRESHER was announced as lost.

One of the things dad did was insist that the officers pool their civilian suits so the crew could wear them to the casinos since it was against all sorts of rules to wear a military uniform in a casino and sub sailors couldn't carry civies.

5. No kidding!
What I wouldn't give to be in Europe right now. I'd be smiling all day long.

6. I hate getting my picture taken
so, it's difficult for me to smile.

My wife was smiling in most of the pics.

10. I'd love to go to Monaco one day...
Preferably during either the Grand Prix or the Rally.

I'd like to see those NASCAR rednecks attepmt to handle the confines of Monte Carlo with those "Car of Tomorrow" crapmobiles they drive.

11. well, if you want to see nice cars
the casino parking lot there is full of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bentleys, Rolls Royces and more. Heck, about 3 minutes after we got back into the van and left, we saw 4 Lamborghinis going the other way into Monte Carlo... all in a row on the road there.

Oddly, I was taking a picture across a road near the casino there and a guy driving a Ferrari actually stopped his car so my pic wouldn't have his car moving through it. You'd have thought he wouldn't notice a peon like me, or wouldn't care.... kind of the opposite of Italy, where people would just walk right in front of you without care or notice.
