11. They're smart - they showed up for the lunch rush.
They're pretty aggressive about it, too - but I let them down as best as I could.

Four Marines - three guys, one girl. Short, but very cool exchange below:

Marine: "Hello! I see your tags hanging from your rearview. When did you serve?"

Me: "No, they're not mine. They're my grandfather's and my brother's."

Marine: "We need good, strong, healthy people to serve our country. Would you consider serving with the Corps?"

Me: *snort* "I'm 40 years old."

Marine: "Oh, wow. I never would have guessed that."

Me: "Your mother has taught you well, babe. Nicely played. And for what it's worth, I love you guys. Thank you for what you do."

I'm really digging the duds, though. I love camo.

Unlike Wawa, no recruiters.

31. We don't have Quik Cheks here. Never heard of them.
But, to be honest, I've never seen military recruitments at a Wawa before - this was a first.

I think they're getting desperate, fwiw.

They have the best cheap coffee, and their sandwiches are really good.

Their whole ad campaign right now is about how much better and cheaper they are than Dunkin Donuts. It's true.

When I was recruit wrangling, had one eager space cadet inform flight leader and self that she joined Uncle's Fly Force because she wanted to live just like they did in Star Fleet.

No shit.

"Got the butterfly net handy, sarge?"

"W" is pronounced like the "V" in English, and no one recruits at a place called Va-Va.
