I'd still say 'Ghost World' is my favorite comic story overall, but 'Watchmen' was easily a close second. My god, was it incredible. What do you guys think of it. Also, how was the movie, if you saw it, is it worth seeing?
My favorite character was definitely Rorschach. :)

1. About 6 times for me, my favorite character was the Night Owl w/the Comedian as a close second
I often find myself quoting the Comedian in real life.

3. The Comedian was great, too.
The classic cynical bastard.

2. I read it when it first came out
I loved it - it completely blew my mind. I'll be checking out the movie in the next week or so.

4. Haven't seen the movie yet, but I've read the book a few times.
Totally amazing.

"I'm not trapped in here with you. You're trapped in here with me." - Rorschach :)

I've debated watching it online, but I'd rather wait until the DVD comes out with the extended version, and I also want to see a good clear picture, which I doubt any of the bootlegs have at this point.

6. That line made me want to cheer.
And what he did to Big Figure and his goons...total badass.

10. That was the one line I was almost praying to God would be in the movie.
One of my absolutely favorite lines in any book or movie, and I'm so glad they put it in the movie.

5. I'm in the middle of reading it for the first time.
I put it on the library reservation list all the way back when the movie came out. I figured I'd read it first, then see the film.

Now, almost two months later, the book came up for me. I guess I'll be watching the film at home upon its DVD release.

As for the book, it's only the fifth or sixth graphic novel I've read, but it's as gripping as any. And my fondness or interest in the characters is shifting as the story progresses. I can't pick any favorites, except to say the amount of story work and history done by the author does justice to all the characters.

7. I read it many times when it first came out.
It was and still is a groundbreaking graphic novel.

I haven't seen the movie though.

8. I just read it for the first time about 4 months ago
My daughter has been after me for years to read it. Loved it - wonderful characters and every miniscule image in the thing has meaning. I can see how I will pick up more and more every time I read it, and I will read it again.

As for the movie, I haven't seen it - I'll give it a try but I'm a book person.

9. Absolutely amazing story that still stands up. Maybe even better than it did 20 years ago,

since Moore was writing it with only the travesty of Reagan in the background.

Now we can read it with the Uber-travesty of the Shrubbie administration, and all his debacles.

Unfortunately, some noobs read it now and go "Wow, it's so cliche", but the only reason it's cliche is because it started the movement.

Like the women Isaac Asimov writes about the woman who complained to him that she didn't like Hamlet because it's full of cliches. "Well, where the hell do you think they came from, you stupid woman", he thought to himself.

Oh, and the movie was an almost pinpoint reproduction of the book, except for the method used at the end - the result is the same (thank God!), but for some reason they changed the method. Not sure why.

16. I actually liked the movie ending (no spoilers)
I read Watchmen when it first came out and was pretty WTF? at the ending. Re-reading it many years later I like it more, but still the movie ending was cleaner for me.

11. Loved Watchmen
Nite Owl was probably my favorite character. Heck, all of them were great characters, it's hard to choose.

17. If you loved Watchmen, you need to check out From Hell
It will blow your mind. One of the best graphic novels of all time, and possibly the very best piece of Jack the Ripper fiction ever produced.
