7 months of searching for work or clients, now working at a call center....
$13 an hour to start, matching 401k contribution, medical, dental, vision, paid sick days, paid personal days, yadda, yadda

And the company still can't find enough people to fill the open positions. They're even offering $250 - $500 to employees who refer somebody.

I'm not making this up.

2. sounds familiar
it's a job---it's a rather dehumanizing having to account for every second of the day, being attached to the headset. But I'm actually helping people desparate for help and it's a job:hi:

3. You're doing better than a lot of people.
I am working at a low paying job in a call center with no benefits.

4. glad something was found
I wonder if the demand for call center workers is due to the credit crisis: more defaults mean collection efforts increase.

You could be in a different market however.

5. I work in an ISP/telecommunications call center
which is probably going to be pretty stable during the depression. The place that does a huge amount of outsourced call center work - some sales, some customer service - is closing this week.

6. It's something I never thought of or considered
I was actually doing janitor work part time in the same building and got offered the job.
