Some asshole hacked my eBay account!
WTF?

He bought all this crap, and then I started getting invoices for them -- did he think I would just pay for them so they could be sent to him?

I caught it when I received a request to change my e-mail address.

Has this happened to anyone else?

1. I love how my posts sink into oblivion so quickly...
46 views and not one single reply -- a new record for me, I think.

2. That sucks, but at least he/she/they didn't get into your PayPal account.

3. That sucks...
but should be pretty easy to prosecute, no?

I just placed my first eBay bid in years, ironically enough. So, if you're paying for other people's purchases- how, exactly, do I get on that gravy train?

4. Something similar but lower-risk happened to me
I got an email along the lines of "Joe Smith has replied to your message."

Since I hadn't sent a message to Joe Smith, I looked into the matter and saw dozens and dozens of messages in the "sent" folder of my eBay message-minder. I contacted eBay's security team, and they were very helpful in sorting the matter out.

Fortunately, the intruder hadn't bid on anything in my name, and no financial information was compromised, but it was still rather surprising.

Sorry to hear that you got stung!

6. I did
Yup, someone hacked into mine today. This is the second time. First time was last year. I don't use the acct. but maybe 10 times a year. I got an email stating I changed my password. So I went to the acct. which I haven't used since early March and sure enough, couldn't get in. So I used the "forgot my password" and changed it and did get in. There in my messages it says I also changed my email but that was not changed. I changed the security question again (and am going to need a Rolodex to keep track of all these damn passwords) and contacted live help who said it looks like my acct. was compromised but no activity and what I did should take care of it. Of course they told me to make sure I have anti virus etc. which I do and keep up to date.

In the email it gives the ISP number the changes were made from. A far cry from northern Wisconsin.

7. Welcome to DU.
I guess this may be a common problem on ebay.

11. I've been hacked before.
Years ago. Instead of buying crap though, he was selling it and not delivering. It took ages to convince ebay that it wasn't me selling this shit.
