I've got the worst sty (stye?) ever. Any advice?
Nope. Not talking about a pigpen. ;)

It's actually more like a row of four separate sties (sp?) on the bottom of my eye. It's made that eye swell up considerably, and it hurts like hell, especially when I blink.

Anyone have any tips on dealing with this? Thanks.

1. I think time is the only thing.
Haven't had sties but I have had scratched corneas here and there in my life I imagine it is somewhat similar.

Stay in dim light if you can. Don't try to read or watch TV or anything like that which would cause a lot of rapid eye movements. So...you shouldn't read this probably.

Sorry you are going through this. Hope you feel better soon. :pals:

2. I had a scratched cornea once, too
And that was painful as well. It was totally a freak accident. The only newspaper-reading accident I've ever had. LOL. I was reading the paper, and I turned the page, and I guess I was holding the paper a little too close to my face, and the edge of it sliced into my eye. I actually got a paper cut on my cornea. That's pretty freaky. It hurt bad for about a week before it healed.

Thanks for your reply and your kind words.

4. Hot compresses applied over and over again
they should eventually drain. If they are really bad and you get no relief go to the doctor, there is a prescription the doc can give you to apply to the sty(s).

6. thanks!
I try to keep pharmaceuticals as a last resort. Sometimes they are necessary, but usually they are poison.

Thanks for the kind reply.

9. Eye just got rid...
of a stye last weekend using an OTC eye drop called "Stye Eye Relief" made by Similasan. I just put the drops in for a day and a half and it went away. Oh and it helped out with the pain and itching a lot.

14. try putting a used teabag on your eye
I know it sounds weird but something about the tea leaves and the heat seems to help

15. Eye drops, especially the ones for allergies.
Something like Visine-A is good for at least lessening the pain.

Other than that, I strongly suggest lots of whiskey to knock you on your ass so you don't feel it so much. Just remember to cut back on the drinking when it heals, if possible.
