The "Social Media" special section of the new San Jose Business Journal just made my head explode.
There's a special section on "Social Media"...Facebook, Twitter, Linked In...here's a quote (subscription only, so I can't offer a link):

"Social Media management is generally part of the client's retainer, and the minimum Page One retainer is $5000 a month, Terca said. The minimum for a one-time Social Media project is $20,000.

The article says that this company handles the "tweets" for Cisco Systems, but holy shit Buffalo Bob...

...I met with a client on Thursday who told me that she hates Twitter and the people who use it: "I wouldn't WANT to attract that kind of patient." (it's a dentist's office, and when people leave their cell phones on and make the dentist wait in the middle of a procedure while they take a call, it really pisses her off.

I know more people who think that Facebook and Twitter are spam-filled wanks than I do people who see them as legitimate business tools.

Does anyone here KNOW of anyone who spent 20 effing K on TWITTER TWEETS and actually got a return on that investment...plus profit?
