Holding four teams in a row under 70? MAHVELOUS!!

They're going all the way.

BTW. After my 21 year USAF anniversary on Mon 15 Mar, I'm changing my av to the Pistons.

1. Best defense since the 50's
Averaging points allowed, that is. Definite contenders!

6. ?
85.3 PPG against.

That's tied with the Pacers, and trailing the Spurs, who are only allowing 84.8 points per game.

Plus, the East as a conference is averaging only 91 points per game, while the West is averaging 95.4 points per game, so the Spurs' defense looks even better. They're holding teams further below their average.

I think we need a new defensive stat, point differential. What you do is take the differential between the points a team averages and the points you allow.

For instance, lets say you play a team averaging 100 points per game, and hold them to 95. That's a -5.0, which would be better than holding a team that averages 80 points to 78, right?

You could do the same thing with field goal percentage against, as well.

I may get bored on weekend and do this on a spread sheet. I did it for a couple of teams last year, I think Detroit and San Antonio, and the differences were remarkable.

That said, Detroit is an outstanding team, and either they or Indiana are going to be meeting us in the Finals this year. 'Sheed was a great pickup, and I hope he will finally find some peace there.

If not, I know Pop is looking to bring him to Texas. :D

12. I was referring to post-Rasheed-trade games
You're right, it's not that over the entire season. Bottom line: they're kickin' ass.

14. Ah, gotcha
You're right, though, they are doing quite well.

How do you like the idea of that defensive stat?

5. They could win it all this year.
Even against the Kings or Lakers.

They wouldn't be favored, of course, but they'd win at least a game or two in the Finals.

8. The Lakers?
They'll be lucky to get out of the first round. It's going to be the Kings or the Spurs this year.

15. I dunno
That 4-6 slot is awful fluid, between LA, Dallas, and Memphis. Heck, even Minnesota or San Antonio could slip into one of those slots. The West is as wild as it gets. Minnesota only has one game left that's not against the West, and most of those are against Midwest teams, including two against San Antonio.

The standings are likely to be totally different in three weeks. The only thing I'm fairly sure of is that Houston will be at 7, and Utah at 8, with Denver sliding out.

And, in the East, they may as well just have Indiana and Detroit play in the Finals, and not bother wasting our time with the rest of it. I can't imagine being forced to watch something like New Orleans vs Milwaukee. Ick. Or New Jersey/Cleveland. Or New York or Boston vs anybody. Dear lord is the East bad.

It's going to get worse next year. Have you seen the redistricting they're doing?

10. I saw the Pistons play on Sunday, in Seattle
Boy, did I have a good time!!!

They looked great and Rasheed seems like a good fit. He and Ben Wallace have similar numbers (3 and 30) and they were both wearing white headbands. It was really cute.

Go Pistons!

11. Holding the Nuggetts under 70 doesn't count
The rookies and newbies to Denver are now learning the Nuggs' tanking tradition - takes about half a season.

13. Dominating weak teams should be expected
It Detroit won a close, it would be a sign of trouble for a great team
