What are some good anti-war/protest music groups
I'm looking to boost my collection. Any suggestions? I already have Rage Against the Machine.

1. I don't know what kind of music you like,
so I'm just going to link to stuff that I like.
Between this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odwj6aMFEBk this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9KctKtnJKI and the Iraq Veterans Against the war table they had at the last show I went to, I think these guys are against the war.

And pretty much every song these guys do opposes war generally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Afwzu8JT7TE Seriously, who else has a song about PNAC? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPWH4q5hZ5U

5. flobots
I didn't click on any of the other links so I don't know if anyone else suggested them already. Handlebars was not their best song in my opinion (if that is the only one you have heard).

8. Roger Clyne And The Peacemakers.
Not really a protest group despite the name, but they're solidly left and have a few good songs about war and religious fanaticism.

"God Gave Me A Gun" from their album Americano! is a really good one.

15. The Fugs were awesome and far ahead of their time---their 2nd album especially
is as underrated an album as has ever been made.

17. actually got to shake Ed Sanders' hand and briefly talk to him about 15 yrs ago
and got stoned with Ochs's band ( but not Ochs himself) about '68 or '69... this was after a concert at my college ( Knox, in Illinois) . He did his usual stuff for the first half of the concert, then came out in a shiny gold jumpsuit for the second half; announced that he'd been killed at the Democratic convention, but that god told him that since there wasn't much time left for humanity anyway, he could come back for whatever time was left ,as anyone he wanted to. Said he immediately told god he wanted to come back as Elvis, and did nothing but 50's rock and roll the rest of the evening, and was great. But Ochs just sat quietly in the corner of that party drinking wine by himself and taping his hand that he'd apparently injured some weeks before punching out a glass ticket window in New York or something like that. A sad man I guess, and I hope he found the peace he was looking for when he chose to leave this world... But back to the Fugs, I still have my vinyl copies of their first 2 albums ( had to hide them from my parents), and a live one too. There's a few things from those on youtube, but Mr. low-tech here is too ignorant to know how to post em here. That second album really is amazing. Every single thing on it...Good to see another Fugs fan here...:toast:

13. Roger Waters ...
The Final Cut and Amused To Death. A good portion of Amused To Death is on the '91 Gulf War, but sounds relevant today.

I see Bad Religion and System of a Down were mentioned, excellent choices.

Personally, I'm a pretty big fan of Rise Against too.

19. Big Country is good if you like 80s stuff that still stands up now.
Stuart Adamson was a brilliant lyricist and the musicianship was phenomenal.
