Looks like Spike TV is the new haven for right-wing cartoon shows.

The good thing is that after seeing the commercial for this repuke cartoon called "This Just In", I'm able to chalk up that show on my cable TV shit list and completely avoid it (which I do very well, BTW).

Apparenly on this show (according to the previews), a few neanterthal guys sit around a bar complaining about those liberals and communists and hippies. But they have a black guy on there, you know, to make sure that not ALL neo-con freepers are angry white men!!!:eyes:

They have Ted Kennedy as a character in the bar on that show. Apparently, his job is to provide comic relief by barfing, shitting in an open toilet on the bar counter and supposedly making himself sound really drunk and stupid. Oh yeah, one of the guys yells at him "Get your fat liberal ass off that toilet!!!"

However, I do really appreciate the fact that Spike TV has given me warning beforehand. The only reason I watch that network is because of MXC anyway. Better to know now and avoid it. You won't see me complaining about anything on TV that I can easily avoid. That's why I never rant about Faux News.

1. Dunno about that, but I did watch a show on Spike >
that made me laugh outloud. Stuck in a hotel on a biztrip, flipped the channel to Spike, and it was showing one of those degrading Japanese game shows with a wise-ass voice over.

My kinda TV, I must say. Took me back to the days when you could watch the Rose Parade with the sound turned down and a parody commentary on a local SoCal radio station. Fraser Somebodyorother...

5. I was never sure if he was joking or not
But he claims he was fired from Ren and Stimpy for being a Republican...

HOWEVER, he has a character, George Liquor, who is the embodiment of Freeper.

So you never know....

9. I get the feeling John K, if Republican
was more of the Libertarian type, like the South Park guys.

He tended to take a stab at everyone...

11. Well, I'm pretty damn sure that he's Canadian...
...so he can't be TOO right-wing. At worst, the equivilant of a moderate Republican.

7. So...
...based on one brief viewing, and with no real knowledge you condemn an entire esries. Interesting. Same lack of logic used by those speaking out against "The Passion" before it was even released to the critics.

10. The chances that it's right-wing are probably over 90%
Edited on Thu Mar-11-04 09:41 PM by northwest
I just saw the commercial, and it said it was very "opinionated". Code-speak for "raving right-wing loony".

I already know there's ONE character on there that's is a rightie.

12. But w/o doing a complete set of research you made a decision.
Down that road definately does not lie wisdom.

13. I understand what you're saying, but...
The chances of it being a right-wing cartoon are very good. Look at the demographic Spike TV aims to. One character used "liberal" as an insult in the preview. The commercial also used the right-wing code-speak "opinionated", which has been used to promote at LEAST two right-wing radio shows that I know of. They're not going to tell you right away "We make fun of liberals and commies and hippies", because a lot of people watching won't even tune in if they say that. That's why it's better that I have a good idea beforehand.

17. You are probably right. In fact, I may agree.
However there is a lot of harm done in this world by people making judgements w/o any better information than what other people told them. I call them Dittoheads. :)

Seriously though. Better to judge based on what you "learned" than on what you "know". IMHO of course.

Thus is the wisdom of Phenyx. So shall it be written. So shall it be done.

14. Have you seen "Totally Spies?"
I love cartoons. I'm not ashamed to admit that. I'll watch everything from Cowboy Bebop, to Spongebob.

I'm a little embarassed to say that I was flipping through the channel and stopped to watch this show for about two minutes before I wretched.

The premise is you've got three teenage girls who are also spies. OK, little girls need their own cartoons too, I can except that.

But this segment I saw had the characters in Science class and one of them was complaining about how the science lab she was working on was "too hard" and "not cool" and "oh my god, there's a really cute boy over there."

It was really disgusting. It reminded me of that talking Barbie doll a few years back that said things like "math is hard."

I had hoped that childrens television producers had evolved beyond the "smurfette syndrome." I guess not.

Oh well. Rant over. That is all.

15. Don't worry, that cartoon is on the bottom of the CN food chain.
I think a total of 50 nine year-old girls in this country watch that show.

16. Hope so.
It seems like they've got it in heavy rotation.

Looks like a horribly animated rip off of Disney's Kim Possible. Which is a pretty well drawn little show.
